Whether you are struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, adapting to life and/or situational changes or feeling like you lost yourself in taking care of others....I offer a place of non judgment, and support alternative therapies.

I work with clients who have experienced developmental, relational traumas that have resulted in anxiety, mind-body issues, identity disconnect, and depressed mood.
You might be seeking therapy because your inner pain has spilled out onto your close relationships, physical health, creative endeavors, career, or daily functioning, and it’s become unbearable for you to manage on your own. Maybe you are generally well-functioning, but you have long felt disconnected from life. Healing does not have to stop at mental health symptom management. Therapy can be a place to (re)discover your true self, to free yourself from your past, to help you live a life you desire, or to build your psychological immunity. In the grace of the therapeutic space, you can transform your pain into new life.

I am certified in Biofeedback which can be used to treat anxiety, depression, weight loss, chronic pain, hypertension, and athlete performance enhancement.
Maybe it was a difficult decision to think about asking for help due to stigma or fear. It has been my experience that even the strongest people need help sometimes. Whether you are under a lot of stress, are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief/loss, are suffering from PTSD or self esteem issues, you do not have to do it alone.

I have extensive training & experience using CBT & DBT to help heal depression, anxiety, low self-confidence, trauma, & to improve interpersonal relationships.
What's the one thing we all have in common? We all carry around a bag full of memories, experiences, and stories that impact who we are, how we see ourselves, and how we make our way through life. Carrying all of that around, every hour of every day, can be exhausting. Sometimes the best thing to do is have someone sort through that bag with you so that it can begin to make sense.

Whether you struggle with the racing thoughts, and scary physical sensations of panic attacks and anxiety, or the sadness, emptiness and fatigue common with depression, you feel unable to live your life the way things are now. No longer able to 'push through' your feelings, you feel drained, and unsure what to do. Your family may not always understand therapy, but you recognize that you would be helped by talking with someone who gets it, who has the training, empathy, and insight to help you through this time in your life. You're not looking for a quick fix, but long-lasting change and insight. Accepting new clients (8/11/2021)

With several years of experience working with diverse age groups—from children to adults—in various mental health settings, I specialize in helping individuals facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, stress management, self-esteem, emotional regulation/coping skill building, and navigating interpersonal/relationship issues.
Hi! My name is Stephanie and I am glad you are here. I understand that taking the first steps toward therapy can be overwhelming, and I want to assure you that my primary goal is to offer support in navigating the changes you're seeking. Many individuals come to therapy feeling defeated, stuck, and wanting something different in their lives but unsure of where to begin. Others may feel isolated and misunderstood, struggling with unfulfilling relationships or finding it difficult to heal from past experiences. Being human is tough, and I believe no one should have to navigate their difficulties alone.

If you can relate to any of the above concepts, then you probably already know that they can lead to depression, anxiety, and many other mental and physical symptoms.
We are all human beings going through the experience of life together, although in the current age, it seems as though there is a movement of separateness, judgment, and shame. Presently, this trend is causing an epidemic of underlying unhappiness. Ask yourself: Am I having problems with the following?: **Getting up and facing the day? **Dealing with "difficult" people in my life? **Being vulnerable and sharing your feelings? ** Navigating romance and intimacy? **Wondering "Who am I?" and " Why am I here?" **Shutting off negative thinking?** Letting go of the need to be right or what "should" be? **Living in the present moment?**

We all have times when life becomes more challenging and we can benefit from someone who has been down this path with many others and has learned from their struggles and triumphs. People who struggle with being stuck, depressed anxious or disconnected benefit from this process.

What is the goal of therapy for depression?
Therapy for depression has several major goals. One is to relieve the mental pain of depression, which distorts feeling and thinking so that sufferers cannot see beyond their current state of mind or envision feeling better. Another is to give people the mental tools to recognize and correct the kinds of distorted thinking that turn a problem into a catastrophe and lead to despair. Therapy also teaches people how to process negative emotions in constructive ways, so they have more control over their own emotional reactivity. And it helps people regain the ability to see themselves positively, the motivation to do things, and the capacity for pleasure.
What happens in therapy for depression?
Perhaps most important, no matter the type of therapy, patients form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Patients learn to identify and to challenge their own erroneous beliefs and thoughts that amplify the effects of negative experiences. They learn to identify situations in which they are especially vulnerable. And they learn new patterns of thinking and behaving. They may be given “homework” assignments in which they practice their developing skills. In addition, good therapists regularly monitor patients to assess whether and how much the condition is improving.
What therapy types help with depression?
Several types of short-term therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) helps clients challenge their negative thoughts and beliefs, learn new behavioral strategies, and curb reactivity to distressing situations. Behavioral activation (BA) is a form of therapy often used in conjunction with CBT; it focuses on engagement in rewarding activity as a pathway to changing negative feelings and disturbed mood. Another widely used approach is interpersonal therapy (IPT), which targets the social difficulties that both give rise to and get exacerbated by depression. Therapists may combine approaches as needed.
Can therapy for depression be done online?
Studies have found that online therapy can be highly effective for treating depression, although it may be more challenging to build a good therapist-patient alliance on screen than in person—at least at first. However, online therapy can offer considerable advantages. Accessibility and convenience are tops among them. Some people actually find it easier to talk about problems online than in person. While online therapy typically limits visibility of facial expression and body gestures that give important nonverbal cues to a patient’s state of mind, it can give therapists a glimpse into a patient’s world and life, providing information that can be highly useful in guiding therapy.
How effective is therapy for depression?
Many studies show that therapy is highly effective provided that patients complete the prescribed course of therapy, commonly 16 to 20 sessions. Over the long term, it is more effective than medication and the effects are more enduring. As a result, psychotherapy has the power not just to relieve current suffering but to prevent future episodes of the disorder. Therapy reverses the dysfunction in neural circuitry that disposes individuals to a negative view of themselves, the world, and their future and they acquire coping techniques, problem-solving skills, and understanding of their own vulnerabilities that are useful over the course of a lifetime.
