Everyone including me, is going through or has gone through something at some point in their life. And when we do, sometimes we just need a little support, a little encouragement, a listening and caring ear or a little guidance and push in the right direction. We don't want to be judged but we want someone to understand. We want someone who is going to be there for us and support us in making the best decisions for our next step or transition in life. No matter your circumstance, we can and will get through this together and it all starts with a conversation, so let's have one...

When trauma touches our lives, whether through childhood experiences, racial discrimination, or gender-based harm, it can feel like carrying an invisible weight that no one else can see.
As a certified EMDR therapist and Level 1 IFS-trained therapist, I offer a gentle, affirming space where all parts of you belong. Through my feminist, trauma-informed lens, I understand how systemic oppression impacts your wellbeing. Together, we'll help you feel grounded and reconnected to your authentic self.

Important: EMDR & IFS-Informed EMDR aren't only effective in treating Trauma & PTSD, and physical abuse.
I only treat individuals & specialize in EMDR & IFS Informed EMDR although I use other modalities as well. I changed my profession & totally changed my life by returning to school for several years. Best decision ever!
Low self-worth is often linked to either hurtful experiences, or positive ones that you "needed" to grow but never got enough of. Utilizing interventions that target memories about "what happened" or "what needed to happen but didn't" you can unload bricks from your backpack .You can't undo "what happened" but you CAN undo the impact hurtful experiences/situations/relationships have had on how you live your life.

I have experience helping with depression, anxiety, trauma, loss, chronic pain and illness.
Sometimes we look around and life is not the way we want it to be: full of disappointment, stress, sadness or loss. Sometimes we need help finding our way. In my practice, I seek to create a compassionate, supportive space for collaborative exploration, growth and positive change. I create a place where you can be seen and acknowledged, and you can give words to feelings and experiences, to discover greater understanding and self- awareness. When we understand our patterns of behaviors and feelings, we can free ourselves of the unwanted burdens that weigh us down, and live more fully and happily in the present.

I work with clients who may be struggling with the effects of trauma, depression, and anxiety as it relates to their relationship to self and others.
Many of us go through life carrying limiting beliefs and behaviors that seem to sabotage our efforts to grow and connect with others. I believe these patterns are not disorders to be cured, but ways our mind and body have adapted to survive. For many, these patterns involve anxiety, depression, anger, and addiction. Our task in therapy involves identifying these ineffective patterns and collaborating to rewrite them, one small action at a time. This leads to growth, healing, and ultimately, self-acceptance.

In my experience, people often come to therapy because they feel a lack of fulfillment in their lives and in their relationships. Through empathic, non-judgmental listening, I help my clients feel more connected to their feelings and closer to the important people in their lives. I provide a safe, comfortable environment which encourages exploration of feelings and promotes positive change. Though therapy can be scary to start for some people, many find it invigorating and life-changing. Feel free to call or email me, and we can chat about whether therapy would be beneficial.

Life burning down around you? Cool, grab a seat. Cry, laugh, drop a few F-bombs. Welcome to therapy! You’re safe here. I’m a therapist a professor, and a real human who’s lived through real things. I don’t do this work from a distance. I’ve moved through anxiety and depression. I’ve grieved the loss of people I love. I’ve gone through divorce. I’m raising a child with special needs… and all of that shapes how I show up for you. In my therapy space, we slow down. We breathe. We talk honestly. We laugh sometimes. We grieve sometimes. And we make room for the parts of you that you’ve had to hide to survive.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
