My passion is working with young people and their families concerned about the impact of substance use in their lives. I understand that many people have been harmed by one-size-fit-all treatment approaches, so self-empowerment is my focus and my approach is person- and family-centric. There are many paths to wellness. This means that you are in charge of your treatment goals. I understand that any change is difficult so I'll meet you where you're at in the change process to empower you to take the next steps.

I work with teens and adults who struggle to move forward because of past traumas or negative life events.
Traditional talk therapy hasn’t been enough. You want to feel more like yourself, but find yourself stuck in cycles of overthinking, anxiety, self-criticism, or not feeling good enough. Even though you’re highly motivated to change, old patterns feel hard to shift, especially when stress, overwhelm, or past experiences keep getting in the way. Many of my clients come in feeling overextended, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from themselves and their relationships. They’re often juggling a lot and want more than temporary relief. They want to create new patterns and lasting change.

Your body remembers what your mind tries to forget. Complex trauma lives in your nervous system and can show up as that constant feeling of being "too much" or "not enough," deep shame and difficulty with food. Whether you're caught in cycles of disordered eating, battling perfectionism, people pleasing, overfunctioning or feeling disconnected from your own body, there's a reason these patterns developed. Your survival strategies made sense then, but they're stealing your peace now. Freedom from disordered eating and CPTSD symptoms isn't about willpower. It's about healing the deeper wounds that keep you trapped in old patterns.

Certified in Prolonged Exposure and Prolonged Exposure- Adolescent for PTSD.
Do you find yourself people-pleasing, over functioning for others, or holding yourself to impossibly high standards? Are these issues leaving you feeling anxious, burnt out, or disconnected from yourself and your relationships? You may notice that when you try to express your needs or set boundaries, you feel misunderstood, overlooked, or dismissed. Often, these struggles are rooted in long-standing beliefs, relational patterns, or past experiences of trauma or adversity. Many people are feeling burned out while also becoming curious about how to live differently: with more balance, authenticity, and meaning.

My approach to therapy is relational. I create a safe environment of collaboration with clients to work toward eliminating unhealthy obstacles to achieving their goals. These behaviors and beliefs are aftereffects of traumas in their pasts. I promote healing by witnessing the client's story and providing feedback including strengths, progress and the causes of clients' pain. I see therapy as an opportunity to experience new ways of relating and coping while developing and appreciation of who they are. Additional techniques I use as indicated are: cognitive exercises, hypnosis, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and sand tray therapy.

You dream of a happier life – free from worry, present in the moment, and optimistic about the future – and wonder if it is even possible. I know what these struggles are like, and I can help you restore hope in yourself. Keep reading to learn how!

With 7 years of experience, I work with both teens, and adults who are struggling with ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, Depression, and Intergenerational/Complex Trauma (CPTSD), I utilize a Humanistic approach, aspects of CBT, and Existential Theory to help you develop individualized coping skills, identify your Core Beliefs, and accept your foundational strengths.
Day to day life can be beyond difficult, particularly if you grew up in less than ideal situations; are neurdivergent; struggle with depression, anxiety, or are living with chronic health conditions. I firmly believe that no one should have to process life alone. We all deserve access to grounded, and forthright support as we continue forward. My goal as a counselor is to gain a thorough understanding of who you are, and how you relate to the world, as an individual. I’m here for you. Period.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
