I currently work with adult men and offer a weekly anger management group or individual therapy.
Finding the right therapist can be an overwhelming process. In choosing the right therapist I would encourage you to look for a therapist that: has extensive experience, specializes in the issues that you need assistance with, and you could see yourself comfortably talking with. If you are reviewing my link you are undoubtedly looking for a therapist that focuses on helping their clients manage their anger more effectively. I have spent 15 years working with clients on the primary issue of anger management . During that time, I have worked with male clients in either group or individual therapy.

We are currently living in very uncertain times. Within this uncertainty, it is important to find a relationship that will help you sustain important relationships. Part of what makes our relationship work, beyond my clinical skills, is when my clients feel heard and understood. My clients often present with a variety of issues including relationship issues, anger , depression, anxiety, and/or problems with unhealthy substance use/abuse. When we focus on increasing function my clients find their lives to be more workable and enjoyable.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in working with adolescents and adults with anxiety, depression, anger , ADHD, trauma, difficulties adjusting to life transitions, substance abuse, domestic violence, as well as treating individuals that may be involved in the criminal justice system.
I believe that life can be difficult to navigate, and everyone has their own personal story or journey to tell sometimes we just need a safe space for it. I try to place the utmost importance on treating everyone as an individual and understanding what they are personally and individually dealing with at that time. In supporting clients with guidance and empathy in a non-judgmental environment to process these areas of need in order to better cope is not only helpful but paramount to dealing with whatever life might or has thrown your way.

Sadness, anger and anxiety are universal experiences; it's when we can't move through them that they begin to define our lives. Getting stuck in a cycle of negative thought and feeling keeps us from reaching our potential. It doesn’t have to feel "strange" sitting down and talking to someone about your life, your feelings and your problems. This Must Be The Place (A Life Counseling Experience) is a private therapy practice, built in the spirit of offering a casual, comfortable, non-clinical setting for people to develop a resource in gaining perspective on their lives, moods and relationships.

Moods or anxiety can feel overwhelming, and cause problems in personal relationships, work, or social life. Anger or anxiety can bubble up or creep in without a clear reason. At times emotional changes can feel like a roller coaster. For many, there are things they've never told anyone, but that linger in their mind. For some people, these issues have come up recently, and others have been grappling for a lifetime. Does any or all of this seem to apply to you or someone close to you? Need to talk about it?

You used to be so close, but now you find yourself wondering if you even know the person who sleeps next to you every night. You feel so alone and misunderstood. Every time you try to talk about it, you both are left feeling even more confused and frustrated. You've been hurting and lonely for so long that you are starting to wonder if things can ever be different. It's terrifying and heartbreaking to think about what will happen if the relationship doesn't change. But you're not willing to give up, because you know your marriage can be so much more.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I believe that all couples and individuals should take the time to nurture themselves and their relationships. When couples get stuck in the same interaction cycle, the pattern must be broken. I enjoy helping couples to decode their messages to each other, repair bonds, increase security, and their rebuild connection with healthy interaction patterns. Also, as a Certified Grief Counselor I also enjoy helping individuals walk through their grief journey. Grief is as unique as your fingerprint, and by talking through the many grief emotions we can help you process and take steps forward.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
