I have experience as a previous social worker supporting
children
and adolescents discovering their authentic selves, and also working with adults utilizing an integrative approach that best fits the clients' needs.
I believe individuals of all ages deserve to experience peace and wholeness, and should not feel as though they are "stuck" in their life circumstances. I desire for clients to feel safe and known in my presence, and for them to sense I am honored to hear their stories. I am passionate about coming alongside individuals in the midst of their pain, and assisting them, with compassion, in their unique journeys towards renewed freedom and healing. No matter one's age or presenting issue, I enjoy creating realistic goals to work on in the therapeutic process, as well as creating a genuine connection and alliance.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist who has been working within the field for 10+ years. My work focuses on both assessment and treatment of toddlers,
children
, and teens who are experiencing difficulties with behavior, mood, development, and cognition. Though I tailor my treatment to the individual needs of each client, I most often incorporate behavioral and solution-focused techniques and work collaboratively with others in the
child
's life. Now in private practice, I previously worked for various schools and clinics in Chicago, IL, Nationwide
Children
' s Hospital in OH, and the National Institutes of Health in MD.

Sometimes our
child
has needs that can effect the entire family system. I focus on providing the
child
direct care, and provide parents the support to keep going, to keep working toward the potential you know your
child
has. Specifically, if your
child
is having ongoing school problems, is showing oppositional behavior, or has difficulty maintaining friendships. Additionally, if your
child
has been diagnosed, or your questioning whether your
child
has Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD, AD/HD) and needs "coaching" to cope with this problem, or he/she is showing signs of anxiety or depression, or abusing alcohol or drugs.

children
's behavior or social skills?
There are times in everyone's life when help from a professional can make all the difference. Therapy starts with an effort to get to know you and your concerns. We then work together to create clear goals and form a plan that fits for you.

I also love working with small
children
.
The teenage years are the most vulnerable, exciting, and growing years of a young person’s life. Self discovery can often yield low self esteem, independence can easily shift to rebellion, and a slow maturation process often creates impulsive decision making. And when a parent’s warnings and worries don’t seem to have an impact on the teenager’s course, or when it feels too heavy to carry alone, it’s helpful to have another guiding force to help. Through counseling, an adolescent can feel understood, begin to understand themselves, and learn to understand and accept their role in the family and society.

Parent support is an integral part of my work and is fundamental to any
child
's treatment.
Children
and teenagers are more overwhelmed today than ever. The daily challenges they face can be highly stressful and can lead to significant impairments in self-esteem, family relationships, school functioning, friendships, and other important areas of life. My ultimate goals as a therapist are to help young people find good life balance and develop a sense of peace within themselves. I enjoy providing a space where individuals and families can safely work through difficult situations, while learning to feel good about themselves, acquire problem-solving skills, maximize their natural strengths, and utilize the supports they have in their lives.

I am a Licensed Social Worker who specializes in
children
, adolescents, and young adults between the ages of 10 and 25.
Adolescence and young adulthood are both exciting times, but also incredibly vulnerable. Marked by increased independence, young people and families may struggle to establish new boundaries, as new precedents are set. As a therapist working with this population, I aim to create a safe and affirming environment for my clients to explore their growth and healing. I value incorporating family as much as possible, when that is feasible and appropriate to do so. My areas of focus are LGBTQ+ issues, identity formation, post-traumatic growth, anxiety, depression, and conflict management.

Even if you’re not positive if therapy is right for your
child
or you, feel free to reach out and state your concerns and/or questions.
I enjoy empowering young people to pursue peace and healing within themselves, become aware of patterns that have been holding them back, & become confident in their own abilities. I believe we all experience our own unique set of circumstances that subconsciously affect our emotional well-being, our relationships, how we see ourselves, and our interactions in the world. I use a holistic approach in therapy, which means, I look at all aspects of your internal and external environment to help you gain understanding, and discover your best self to begin healing.

Child Therapists
Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.
How long are sessions with child therapists?
Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.
How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?
The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.
How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
