In therapy, I try to understand and accept each person. That builds the client's self-esteem. Then I work together with the client to find the unique solution to his or her trouble, whether it's depression, or anxiety, or relationship problems. Different people need different kinds of help, so I don't limit myself to one kind of therapy. I'm trained in several, so the client and I pick the methods we think will help him or her the most. The relationship is one of mutual respect moving forward to overcome an obstacle to the client's happiness.

If you’re reading this, you or someone you know and love are most likely going through it. Life is probably not very easy right now. You’re not alone. Maybe the hardships are new to you, maybe they are all you’ve ever known. Either way, one thing is true: change is possible. Pursuing change, healing, and growth is often easier and more effective with someone at your side helping and supporting you. Safety, support, compassion, authenticity, and acceptance are central to my practice and provide the foundation for a strong working relationship to deepen self-understanding and progress towards your goals.

I view mental healthy symptoms as signals that one's life and relationships are unbalanced. I work with youth, families, couples and individual adults who are caught in life altering or life threatening patterns. I specialize in family therapy where I work with adolescents and their caregivers who are impacted by protracted conflict and disconnection. I work with couples who are caught in patterns of conflict, avoidance, misunderstanding, parenting challenges. In addition to my work with youth and families, I also have experience working with law enforcement members, as well as their spouses and children.

As a new dad, you're overjoyed, but also put high standards and demands on yourself. If you are feeling irritable, "invisible", or lost then you are not alone. You deserve support with everything you're carrying. Men often face huge internal shifts during fatherhood, but feel pressure to stay strong, keep quiet, and "push through". Attending therapy is a decision and process that shows strength and leads to positive changes for you and your family as a whole. Whether you're struggling with stress, anger, or the fear of not being enough, therapy can offer a space to make sense of it all without judgment.

At nPSYGHT, we emphasize the use of psychotherapy, while supplementing it with medication as needed and at minimum effective doses. We incorporate neuropsychotherapeutic concepts whenever possible, meaning we recognize that advances in our understanding of how the brain works can inform how psychotherapy can be conducted. We stress the importance of general good health habits - diet, exercise, sleep, relaxation methods (meditation, yoga, tai chi) - in promoting mental and behavioral well-being.

Welcome to my practice. I specialize in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (IS-TDP). IS-TDP is based on findings from neuroscience, physiology, attachment studies, mindfulness and psychodynamic theory. This is an effective and well researched technique that is useful in addressing problems and difficulties rapidly and actively. Using this method we can get below the surface and address more than the symptoms but rather the cause. The results, typically, are broad in scope with health benefits in multiple areas. Of note, this method is effective in addressing physical symptoms unexplained by medical examination.

I am a clinical psychologist specializing in couples and family therapy. I work at the largest VA couples therapy clinic in the country. I focus on helping couples feel safe to be vulnerable and to understand complex relational patterns with compassion. Many couples seek help with "communication," often pointing to deeper emotional disconnect: feeling unheard, and unsafe being vulnerable. These struggles are common not because we’re broken or don't care about our partners, but because the warmth and sense of safety we once had have slowly dimmed over time, often unknowingly. This makes it harder to share and truly hear our longing.

The ideal client is the individual who is ready to both ask for and accept help. Change can be hard and it’s ok if you’re not ready. If however, you are ready and you’re looking for a safe place to better understand your challenges and how to overcome them, I can help.

My name is David, and I work with thoughtful, self-aware individuals who are ready to move beyond coping and into intentional living. You may appear high-functioning on the outside yet struggle internally with addictions, anxiety, shame, relational wounds, or a relentless inner critic. Perhaps you’ve done therapy before and want deeper integration—not just symptom relief, but clarity, purpose, and alignment. I support clients in transforming old patterns, strengthening self-trust, and building a life rooted in meaning rather than fear.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
