Licensed Professional Counselor, MA, LPC, CADC, LLC
Specializing in the treatment and recovery of Eating Disorders & Substance Abuse since 2000. I work in collaboration with a treatment team to treat the psychological, emotional, physical, social & spiritual realms of the individual. Treatment also consists of addressing co-occurring disorders/diagnosis including depression, anxiety, trauma, women's issues, Codependency, adjustment disorders, relationship & family struggles. I am an active, dedicated & passionate therapist who believes we are all wounded to varying degrees, but all deserve and have the basic human right of wellness and happiness.
I am a Mental Health Therapist and Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapist. I work with individuals, couples & families. I work with people who are experiencing issues in relationships, stress - anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, trauma, and Adult Children of Alcoholics and dysfunctional family systems issues. I work with people that have deep core issues that are not shifted by traditional treatment and decide to use hypnotherapy to break through deeply held stored trauma, old beliefs and old behaviors that no longer serve them. My clients goals are to lift the veil of feeling not-good-enough and embrace who they really are.
Heather Evans has had diverse experience with children, adolescents, and adults. Using an eclectic, goal-directed approach with some emphasis on cognitive-behavioral techniques, she seeks to facilitate growth and change. She welcomes clients of all religions and backgrounds. Through individual, marriage and family therapy, the interventions are designed to provide emotional support, improve personal insight, and identify tools for daily living.
I believe in the ability of all people to improve their lives and contribute to their own well-being, including children, adolescents, and adults. I work with a range of clients, although I have special interest in and experience with intellectually gifted people and transgender people. Most of my clients are adolescents and adults who have a desire to change something about the way they currently function and appreciate the ability to actively identify and work toward goals that are meaningful to them.
I have over 20 years experience helping individuals, couples and families move towards happier versions of themselves. I work collaboratively with clients to help them uncover what may be causing them to remain stuck or to help change old patterns of thinking or old patterns of behavior. I have a supportive, warm therapeutic style, and I have optimism and hope that any person wanting to make changes has the capacity to do so. It is not uncommon to feel stuck, lost, or lonely – unsure where to turn to feel fulfilled. We may have anxiety that stops us from living a life we desire or have low mood and motivation that keeps us from reaching our goals. We may lack a positive support system that makes moving forward difficult. Maybe, we have everyday stress and each day seems to repeat itself. No matter what size our life difficulties are, everyone deserves support. I believe anyone can create the change they desire with support, honesty, determination and a little bit of trust.

I use a strengths based, emotion focused treatment array to help you be the best you can be !
I developed a 'whole brain' creative arts therapy to help clients find the words and images that can express their thoughts and emotions. This enables clients to 'see' how their negative behaviors originally developed as a way to cope with high levels of interpersonal stress. The BrainsmART process empowers clients with strategies that organize their emotions as they discharge past traumas from their body and mind. Once emotions are 'seen' and 'named', clients can re-'view' the memories and beliefs and re-route their self-destructive behaviors. The process works creatively to redirect addictive urges into self-empowering action. Call me at 267.261.9987
My clinical work is grounded in validated theories and techniques and consistently enriched by current research in psychology, neuroscience, and biology. I operate from a holistic perspective and value the mind-body connection. I have a particular clinical interest in disordered eating concerns, perfectionistic thinking, anxiety, and authentic personal growth and development. I view each client as a unique individual and seek to partner with them as their journey unfolds, discovering their innate strengths and resources along the way. I believe self-acceptance-embracing our whole, true selves-is the foundation for change.
Please note that I have a waitlist for weekly therapy. But have openings for half and full-day Trauma Intensive Therapy that incorporates Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) both half and full-day trauma intensives are not covered by insurance. I am a Certified EMDR Therapist (within the Lehigh Valley, there are currently only 4 Certified EMDR Therapist).
When you feel the glass is half empty, you need a space to be yourself, to share your perspective, practice wading through the discomfort, and leave in a way that allows you to continue what you want to give your attention to. I’m here in hopes that I can provide you with a space where you feel like a partner in the therapeutic relationship and not just a number on a chart. I believe that therapy works best when your therapist meets you where you are and listens to what you need. You are your own expert. If you don’t feel that way now, let’s try to get you there.
"You are not broken, you are breaking through". I have spent my career normalizing and reducing the stigma of seeking therapy. It takes a lot of courage to ask for help. Your anxiety, doubt, and hesitation will be reduced by my calm demeanor and safe environment. In order to assist in creating change short term goals will be collaborated on and assessed each session. Progress will be measured together. Many interventions are utilized based on the presenting problem. There is no one solution for everyone. Therapy is a process that takes time, but I will be your road map.
