Are you willing to get to know yourself better? Are you willing to learn more about why you do the things you do, to be thoughtful about yourself? Are you willing to change? Are you willing to accept that some changes come easier than others? If so, I will listen and assist you with this. Sometimes it is a matter of learning simple techniques and other times it is a matter of getting to know yourself better, gaining a new perspective, and making new choices by experimenting with new or other ideas and behaviors to see what works for you now.

Hey there. If you're reading this you may be wondering "is this guy the right therapist for me?" That is a question I hold dearly. Browsing this website can bring a flurry of emotions when seeking a therapist. It can be tough to find the right fit, and also can be a challenge just to get started. I hope, as you read my profile, there is a chance you may think I can play a role in your mental health journey. The people who tend to seek me for help tend to those seeking trauma work, and also people who are "stuck".

I believe one of the bravest things we can do is to understand our story. Owning our story can bring us to self-acceptance and healing. I can help get you there. Do you feel like you’re hitting a wall? Feeling stuck in unhealthy patterns? Stuck in your past trauma? Bad relationships? You deserve more than the anger and hurt that you’re carrying with you each day. These walls you’re hitting can be broken down. We just need to take a few steps back, and face these walls together. Come in, and enjoy a cup of tea (on me) and let’s talk about it.

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help those living with depression, anxiety, and grief/ loss.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who uses compassion and honesty to connect with my clients. Not one person is the same; everyone has their own unique set of strengths and needs. With that in mind, I build trusting relationships rooted in respect for a person’s individuality and desire for positive change. I believe in the interconnection between the mind, body, and spirit, so I encourage clients to establish healthy habits and routines while embracing support from others.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
