Do you feel like you’ve drifted away from the person you intended to be? Perhaps the weight of daily stress, a difficult transition, or old patterns has made your life feel like something you’re "managing" rather than living. It’s a lonely feeling to realize you’ve wandered off your desired path, but you don't have to find your way back in isolation. I’m Christopher, and I specialize in helping individuals reconnect with their sense of purpose and strength. My approach is centered on the belief that therapy should be a place where you feel immediately safe, heard, and, most importantly, understood.

Accepting new clients! Mindful Tides Therapy was formed to provide an atmosphere for our clients to individualize their goals. We recognized the decrease in quality client care through the “big box” therapy practices that are owned by those who are not clinicians themselves, and it was important for us to provide a safe space for clients to have input into their treatment plans. Our goal is to aid our clients in finding a secure, collaborative, compassionate, and effective therapy environment. It is a priority for us to provide our team of therapists with the training and work and life balance they need to practice comfortably.

I have experience helping clients to process trauma, improve relationships/communication, learn to manage mood disorders, anxiety, intense anger, and adjust to life changes as well as just better manage day to day emotions which can often feel overwhelming.
Starting (or restarting) therapy can be an intimidating process, but the most important part is finding a therapist who is the right fit for you. I prefer to spend the first couple sessions getting to know you and your goals before diving into the “work” of therapy. Therapy can be beneficial for everyone, whether it is to work through a life change, manage intense emotions, process trauma, or develop more ways to navigate the challenges of everyday life. My goal is to support you and provide guidance as you work toward your goals. I can help you to learn coping skills and interpersonal skills to apply to many areas of your life.

I work well with complex trauma, mood struggles, anxiety, disordered eating, couples therapy, and those who just need an understanding space to get things out.
Have you ever thought, “Why do I keep doing what I don’t want to do? I should know better by now!” We all get stuck in old patterns that no longer work. What once helped us cope or survive now keeps us from moving forward. Getting unstuck and breaking patterns is hard AND is hard-wired in us. But sometimes the motivation to change gets used up by the pressures of daily life and just trying to get through another day. It’s okay to need support to rediscover the you that knows you’re made for more than just surviving pain.

I'm a therapist who specializes in LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy, depression/ anxiety, and neurodiversity.
My style is psychodynamic. If you believe what happens when you when you are younger, will affect you when you're older, then my therapy style may be a match. I always listen to your emotions first; I also have a background informed by neuroscience. So, the focus is feeling your emotions while also learning why your brain's autopilot works the way it does.

Hello, I specialize in working with those who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Grieving is a very painful and difficult process. As Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, a grief specialist, would say, "The reality is that you will grieve forever. You will not 'get over' the loss of a loved one; you will learn to live with it. You will heal and you will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again but you will never be the same. Nor should you be the same nor would you want to."

I provide individuals a safe place to address their concerns, while treating them with dignity and respect, increasing overall client success. I have always been drawn to helping people, and believe that my down to earth personality and client-centered approach, creates a less intimidating experience, wherein my clients can truly engage in the therapeutic process, promoting profound personal growth and lifelong change.

EMDR can be helpful for individuals who feel stuck in patterns related to past experiences, anxiety, trauma, or negative self-beliefs and are looking for a different approach to healing and growth.
You may have learned to shape yourself around outside expectations and are now wanting to feel more like yourself, more grounded, free, and authentic. Maybe you want stronger relationships, a clearer sense of who you are, and a life guided by your values rather than imposed rules. Whether you’re questioning parts of your identity, redefining your path, or processing challenging personal or cultural experiences, we will work to examine different parts of your story and how they show up in your relationships and daily life.

Anxiety Therapists
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
