I have been in practice for many years, yet I still consider my work a privilege. My focus is consistently on helping clients achieve their own goals, adapting my approach to their needs. I hope that my experience and enthusiasm combine to make me effective. I also believe that life is serious enough and that even the most dire of situations will have an opportunity for the use of humor.

Does anxiety or depression keep you from being able to live the life you want? Are feelings of fear and worry stopping you from doing the things you want to do and impacting your relationships? Perhaps you are weighed down by shame, guilt and other negative thinking patterns. Is it difficult to engage with your teen without conflict or being shut down? These can be difficult to talk about and sift through on your own. My goal as a therapist is to create a safe place where you can share your story, experience healing, feel empowered and be inspired to live a meaningful and purposeful life.

I use my extensive experience to help you find resolution with these issues and the ability to move forward.

Coming to therapy doesn't mean something is wrong with you, or you failed because you couldn't "fix it" yourself. Like many people I see, you might consider yourself aggressively capable. As a result, you may find it hard to trust and rely on others. When you feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders and are reluctant to ask for help, it is likely to lead to overwhelm. Here's what's true: your well-being MATTERS and affects the quality of your life and relationships. We'll work to identify what's in the way of living a more satisfying and fulfilling life.

Complex trauma can be an unwanted life companion. Living through repeated exposure to traumatic experiences can leave you also feeling unable to trust yourself or others, feeling chronically unsafe, and seeing yourself differently. Alongside those wounds, complicated grief can also be woven into the mix of post-traumatic pain. Complicated grief is much more than “just” a loss - it is sadness, anger, and guilt that cannot always be easily defined. As a licensed professional counselor with a special interest in trauma treatment, I do understand the profound impact these experiences can have on an individual's emotional well being.

I work primarily with Autistic and other neurodivergent people who may feel less-than, not good enough, inherently wrong, etc.. I believe in using therapy as a means to help people find the tools within themselves to move toward positive mental health and overall wellness. I believe in support over solution; in walking with someone to face their unique issues however they need rather than “fixing” them. As a social worker, I consider the “whole person” and the systems impacting them to offer a positive therapeutic experience to every client and help them to feel seen, heard, and supported.

Are you having trouble feeling seen or heard? Are you struggling to connect and feel stuck? It would be an honor to be a part of your healing journey to explore the intersectionality of various identities (gender, race, sexuality, etc.) and uncover how that may play a role in your personhood. I am a Licensed Master of Social Work with a passion to encourage and empower the potential that others see in themselves. I believe that everyone is inherently valuable and should be treated with dignity and respect.

I consider it a great honor to partner with clients to find ways to live with more authenticity and presence. With a Ph.D, in Clinical and School Psychology, and more than 20 years of experience, I have a deep appreciation for the journeys we take in life-where we have been, where we are now, and where we want to go. Although I see adults of all ages, I specialize in assisting college age/young adults to navigate the many challenges these years of identity development can bring.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
