I also have specific training and expertise providing concussion assessment and recovery management services, as well as individual therapy, to children, adolescents, and adults.
The initial step of identifying and understanding one’s pattern of strengths and weaknesses is a crucial stage in helping to address unanswered questions, understand areas of weakness, and promote positive, notable change. It is my priority to create a comfortable environment where we can work collaboratively to discuss your areas of concern and devise a plan to address them. I am a board-certified neuropsychologist, licensed psychologist, and certified school psychologist who uses the neuropsychological assessment process and understanding of brain-behavior relationships to help foster personal growth and success.

Using evidenced-based strategies, I help children, adolescents, and adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and school or relationship problems.
I am a psychologist who enjoys supporting individuals and families in their everyday struggles and seasons of transition (from one school or job or relationship to another). My aim is to help others live well and reach their desired goals. Often, this involves expanding coping skills and improving relationships. I take a holistic approach to healthy living, and look closely at individual habits and behaviors. I also offer a faith-sensitive approach to individuals who would like to include spirituality or religion in their work.

As a pediatric neuropsychologist, I primarily focus on school age children and adolescents to determine personal, academic, and therapeutic interventions that may be most beneficial for them.
The child’s brain is constantly growing, changing, and evolving. It is important to identify any differences in a young person’s development that may lead to difficulties in their everyday life. Each child has their own individual strengths and weaknesses, and I use my knowledge of the pediatric brain, as well as individual context and information about your child, to ensure they receive the appropriate support they need during this critical developmental window of time.

Has the death or estrangement of someone you love changed your life in unimaginable ways? When each day renews the pain, healing feels out of reach. I work with individuals navigating grief, family estrangement and major life transitions. Pain may be inevitable, lifelong suffering is not. Estrangement brings an ambiguous loss leaving you confused, hurt and powerless while the permanence of death can be impossible to comprehend. Healing is possible but does not happen alone. I can help by listening, bearing witness and guiding you forward. After your first session you will feel understood and equipped with at least one coping skill.

Overwhelming worry and stress follow you everywhere. Constant overthinking leaves you drained, restless, and on edge. But it doesn't have to stay that way. Imagine being free from the chaos, present in the moment, and hopeful for the future. That may sound like a tall order. When you've struggled long enough, it's hard to believe things can truly change. You've tried coping on your own, but solutions that used to work no longer seem to help. That’s where my therapy can step in – providing new, evidence-based strategies and support to get you back to yourself again.

My specialty is working with children, teens and adults, who are transitioning through their lives, and those who may be suffering from anxiety, and panic disorder, when road blocks interfere with life's journeys.
Working with young children does not usually entail a long term treatment plan. Because children are young, their anxiety issues are not held in for an extended amount of time, which makes it easier for the therapist to help the client revert their feeling of anxiety to feelings of comfort.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
When does a teenager need to see a therapist?
Exploration and existential struggle is a normal part of adolescence, but if your teenager’s emotions or behaviors change so as to disrupt their ability to function academically or socially, you may want to consult a therapist. For example, if a teen’s grades in school drop suddenly or if they begin isolating from their friends and only spending time online, a parent may want to consider therapy.

What can an adolescent therapist help with?
Adolescence is a tumultuous time, and a therapist can help with the challenges that arise, whether they relate to emotions, academics, disruptive behaviors, self-esteem, friendships, family dynamics, sexual or gender identity, or alcohol and drug use. A therapist can help teenagers unpack their emotions, understand their experiences, and develop coping skills.

What therapy types are suitable for teenagers?
Teenagers may especially benefit from cognitive behavioral therapy (which identifies unhealthy thought patterns to change emotions and behaviors), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), which teaches emotion regulation and distress tolerance, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), which teaches emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility, and interpersonal therapy, which targets interpersonal difficulties. Additionally, adolescent problems may involve family members; family therapy to improve family dynamics and communication is helpful in those cases.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
