As a parent , former educator, and child psychologist, I will work with you to discover your child's unique strengths and weaknesses, to form a plan and make sure they are getting what they need to have happy, healthy, and successful school and life experiences.
Children, adolescents, young adults, and their families may require psychoeducational evaluation for many different reasons. Is your child struggling in school and you're wondering why? Does your child require testing for private school admission? Does your adolescent or young adult require an evaluation for accommodations on SAT, ACT, GRE, or other standardized testing? My goal with every client is to develop a full and complex profile of strengths and weaknesses through psychoeducational evaluation so that their families and schools may provide them with the support and enrichment that they need to meet their potential.

Throughout our working partnership, I will teach you to use specific, research-supported, evidence-based strategies so you can successfully manage: recovery from trauma; sadness and hopelessness; stress, fear, and anxiety; anger and frustration; communication and relationship struggles; and parenting and co- parenting challenges.
Therapy is not about fixing someone who is "broken." You are not broken. Therapy is an opportunity to learn new ways to approach recovery and challenges (no matter how hard) with effective, realistic, and doable actions. Therapy will require commitment and effort, but the work will be a process of collaboration.

As a parent myself, I am innately nurturing and comforting as I encourage clients to honestly address their issues and meet their goals.
My focus is assisting clients in finding their own solutions. My role is to help uncover strengths and protective factors while building the necessary coping skills required to move through life's most significant challenges. Trauma, grief, sadness, confusion, worry and addiction are the most common reasons why people reach out for help. After listening and identifying issues together, the therapeutic relationship will begin to build and in that safe and trusting space support will be created. We will then strategize and set goals, ultimately developing a road map for greater happiness, a peaceful mind and a healthier life.

Being a parent seems harder everyday. After trying everything, nothing seems to work. It feels helpless. Is there anything you can do? If your child seems to be living in other world, where there is no space for you, we need to find a way to reach out. If your child is out of control, leaving the house and/or being aggressive, we need to think what can be done. If your child is cutting, or increasingly more isolated, your influence is very, very important. Call me and let’s explore solutions. Together.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
