I see you, clutching your planner and to-do lists as you rush to do all the things. Everyone counts on you, but nobody seems to appreciate you. You are working so hard to try to live up to the expectations of your
family
, your boss, our culture. And yet you feel like you are letting everyone down. Why does it feel so hard to do what other women do? You wonder, “What is wrong with me?” What if I told you that you are not alone in this struggle? That feeling this way is optional? What if there was a way to be more of who you want to be, to be more of yourself. Don’t you miss her?

I work from a systemic perspective, looking at your problems from the larger context of your relationships (
family
of origin to immediate
family
and friends) to address the details of your life.
If you are a couple looking for help, or if you are an adult struggling with ADHD, then I can help. I work with couples to help them move from feeling unloved, unimportant, lonely, and unheard to connecting and feeling loved, wanted, and heard. I help those with ADHD identify what causes stress and keeps them stuck. Then we work together to find ways to move forward and to address symptoms that get in the way of success and accomplishment. I work with premarital couples to help them identify potential problems and to gain skills to have strong, connected marriages. I am a certified facilitator of the Prepare/Enrich Program.

family

You're half way there and you are not alone. Together we will identify barriers and build skills that will allow you to continue your journey with tools to address life's common challenges, life transitions, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues.

I love helping people work on different relational conflicts within their
family
system. I work with kids that have experienced a divorce in their
family
and help them learn new coping skills in order to appropriately handle these new transitions in their life. I also help parents who are struggling with connecting with their children, whether young or adult, after a separation in the
family
. Divorce and separation of families is a trauma that, with some healing and cooperation, does not need to be a permanent trauma within the
family
system. I would love to help you and your
family
work through these situations.

Offering individual, group,
family
, couples and play therapy, nutrition counseling, massage therapy, creative arts, spiritual direction, biblical life coaching and financial counseling, IHCW promotes healing for the whole person.
Feeling stuck is discouraging. Low self-esteem, worry about the future, and wounds from the past can hold us back from the freedom we crave to truly live and become 'unstuck.' Moving into that freedom requires both trust and a commitment to change. Change occurs as trust develops between a client and a compassionate therapist who serves as a guide through a journey of self-discovery and transformation. IHCW is a community is which pain and suffering meet hope and healing.

You probably already know at least some of what you wish were different in your life. Often the things we wish were different we have wanted to change for months, years, or even decades. Counseling often has a balanced focus on helping you learn how to cope with present day symptoms while at times looking back to become free from old patterns of responding. Those old patterns that at one time may have been necessary in order to survive, now may be the very thing limiting your ability to thrive and realize your potential. Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
