I hold a firm belief that all people have the knowledge and wisdom within themselves needed to heal, and that the therapeutic relationship can serve as a guide to living more authentically. I practice from a place of intuition and curiosity, and I hope to allow my clients the space to grow in ways that feel genuine and unique to them. I love working with clients to explore the "why" behind the way they function as a way to improve their overall wellbeing, and tailor my sessions to each individual person. I use processing past experiences as a way to encourage healing, as well as small shifts in the present to encourage change.

Taking the leap to find a counselor can be a big step. Life gets in the way of us putting ourselves first but if we do find the time to invest in ourselves, amazing things tend to happen. I aim to be reachable and down to earth. I want to help you in your goal of feeling better and lighter. Life is complicated and challenging and the weight of it all can sometimes be overwhelming. I take a lot of pride in being easy to talk to while also bringing valuable insight to the conversation. Together we can make sense of your world, heal and most importantly provide you with the support you deserve.

Welcome. I see individual therapy as a process of joining someone in dealing with difficult situations or problems. I will listen carefully and strive to provide an emotionally safe and nonjudgmental space to explore and work through your concerns. Experiencing a genuine connection in a relaxed and non-stigmatizing atmosphere is an important part of therapy, and we can see if we are a "good match" to work together.

Continually feeling sad, anxious or hopeless can make you feel like this cycle in your life will never end. Feeling stuck, numb, or helpless can feel downright frustrating some days. Racing thoughts and negative thoughts seem to take up space in your head that just won't turn off - "I'm not good enough." "Is this person judging me right now?" "Everyone is looking at me." "I screwed up again." Whether you have worry and racing thoughts, or you are neurodivergent and finding your way in a neurotypical world, I can help. I specialize in working with teens and adults with anxiety and ADHD.

I work with individuals, couples and families. It doesn't matter how many people are sitting in the office, I view each individual within the context of the systems they live in each day. We are all part of many systems, marital, family, school, community, work. The relationships and importance each of these systems place on individuals can sometimes can lead to breakdowns in communication and mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety. Treating the dysfunction in the relationship often restores the feeling of wholeness in an individual and of course leads to stronger deeper relationships between individuals.

It is my goal to provide a safe environment for my clients to express their feelings and explore their story. Human connection is a simple yet powerful gift you deserve, and as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I give my clients the space to examine and process their feelings. By building our therapeutic relationship, we can begin identifying your needs and values. I know change can feel isolating, difficult, and even impossible at times, but I'm here to help. I believe everyone is capable of living the life they want and deserve, and sometimes we just need someone to walk with us, hear us and understand our struggle.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
