Hi, my name is Danielle and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing telehealth psychotherapy in Pennsylvania. I’ve worked with people from all walks of life and, although we all have differences, one thing that connects us is our need to feel supported and heard while going through periods of change and transition. I’d love to work with you throughout yours. I’ve seen people who feel hope is lost and I’ve seen them rediscover themselves. I believe the client should have autonomy over their mental health care & that there is no one size fits all box.

I am a licensed social worker, and I'm passionate about working with young adults who are lost, worried, stressed, and anxious. No matter its roots in emotional, medical or physical experiences, trauma of all varieties and degrees stays in the body, sometimes emerging many months or years later in unexpected ways. Relationship friction and troubles with mood can reflect past experiences, some great some small, that may need addressing with an attentive, caring professional. I am passionate about helping motivated clients process trauma or relationship dissatisfaction to work toward a more empowered self.

When you met your partner you likely didn't notice them across the room and say — "That looks like someone I could solve problems with." What attracts us to people initially usually has little to do with the factors that make conflict resolution possible — let alone productive and connective. Nobody teaches us how to do conflict well. It’s not a class in high school (although it absolutely should be). We aren’t born with these tools. In fact, some of our biology actively works against us here because our nervous system is wired to detect threat.

You may be facing your first counseling experience or after years of working with other practitioners--willing to try again. When we first meet, I trust you will know you are safe and respected. I commit my full presence, deep interest, and willingness to be open to who you truly are. In other words, I am "teachable"--by you, for you and with you. And rather than fit you into a model, I will "learn and flex"--learn how you learn, change and grow and flex my skills, style and tools to find what works best for you.

Sexual Abuse Therapists

How do therapists treat sexual abuse?

A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?

Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?

Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?

As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
