Anyone seeking psychotherapy needs to sense a therapist's ability to deeply connect, to foster real vulnerability, without feeling judged. Some people desire help during personal crises or from a wish to grow. Others recognize a need for therapy after feeling stuck. Therapy can address symptoms that are more chronic in nature, which interfere with relationships or life satisfaction. Some people look for short-term therapy, to focus quickly on solution-oriented work, while others may feel more confusion about where to begin, needing time and support to clarify complicated thoughts and feelings. Together, we will develop your goals.

I work with adults and adolescents with complicated
grief
, PTSD, chronic illness, traumatic stress, mood disorders and those who identify as LGBTQ+, in areas of gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation.
It takes courage to seek help when you are hurting. Life can present obstacles and challenges that feel overwhelming, and you find yourself in foreign territory. The story of your life has lost its meaning. Prior solutions result in unsatisfactory outcomes or worse, despair. My goal is to meet you where you are and provide a warm and caring environment in which you are supported. I believe in a collaborative relationship in which we both work to establish goals that promote authenticity, wellness, and flourishing. Together let’s create the beautiful story of your life your heart knows is possible.

grief
and

and recently published a book called
Grief
from the Inside Out, which is available at Amazon.
I am a clinical social worker and family therapist and love my work. When one member in a family struggles it has deep impact on everyone else. Challenging families to change patterns helps family members choose healthier lifestyles, making for more satisfying relationships. My approach is pro-active, nonjudgmental and straightforward. I collaborate with individuals and families to attain goals they have set for themselves. It is my belief that tapping into the client's or family's wisdom is always the best strategy.

Additionally, I treat children, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing concerns related to communication, trauma, ADHD, anxiety, stress,
grief
and
loss
, divorce, parenting, life phase transitions, body image, self-esteem, and stress / burnout.
Concerns related to sex and intimacy are some of the most sensitive and personal. Experiencing sexual concerns, such as low sexual desire, erectile dysfunction, pelvic pain, or difficulty with orgasm no longer has to be secretive or embarrassing. Finding a therapist who is open, supportive, and has effective tools is imperative on the journey to satisfaction and pleasure. Using a Cognitive Behavioral & collaborative approach, I work with individuals or couples to help them further understand the concerns that effect them, their relationships, & their sexual functioning.

I specialize in maternal mental health, supporting women struggling with infertility, and/or perinatal
loss
, and depression and/or anxiety during pregnancy and the postpartum period.
Fertility issues and/or miscarriages can leave one feeling depressed, anxious, and stressed, yet isolated, and in need of someone to talk to. Support persons often do not know how to comfort a grieving mother after a pregnancy
loss
and unintentionally pressure the mother to move on. Psychotherapy can help to grieve the
loss
of a pregnancy within a supportive environment.

Now accepting clients. Many of us wrestle to find hope in our lives, move forward, or just make it through the day. Depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, and
loss
can take away motivation, causing struggle and suffering. This can change. Perhaps you're determining which life path to take or are dealing with past trauma, abuse, or painful memories. You don't have to carry this weight alone. I provide an unbiased, nonjudgmental space for adults to explore what is hindering them and overcome obstacles in healthy, ways.

I value helping my clients to have quality relationships in which they can feel accepted and understood.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
