Our ideal client is someone who has been suffering from PTSD and is unable to find relief. We have an innovative procedure at our office called the Stellate Ganglion Block, and we are the ONLY office between NYC and MD that provides this service. Stellate ganglion block is a quick and effective treatment option for refractory PTSD symptoms. The SGB takes less than 15 minutes to perform, and RESULTS can begin to be felt in as little as 30 minutes. This procedure was expressly used to treat PTSD for the first time in 2008. Since then, many studies, including randomized controlled trials have demonstrated improvement in PTSD symptoms.

I am a dedicated, interactive, and skilled grief, trauma -focused, and strengths-based therapist.
My goal in working with you is to hear your story, patiently help you make sense of your confusion and pain, help you create unique coping skills, and build a preferred life worth living. Years ago I worked with cancer patients and their families at a Bone Marrow Transplant Unit in South Carolina. Their situations were varied and complex, their physical and emotional pain was deep. As they talked about their pain, hopelessness, worthlessness, loss, anxiety, and uncertainty, together we made sense of their confusion. Likewise, as we work together, I will help you and your challenges in the same caring and skillful way.

How does one go on living in an upside-down world full of trauma ? Through therapy, we can open a stunning window into past, present, and future, and into wisdom and creative flexibility.
Whatever the hurts, heartaches, quandaries, and strivings that bring you here now, you do not have to carry them alone. I can help you find relief, but relief is only the beginning. If you struggle with cumulative trauma , depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, or loss, I can help. I also welcome people working on issues of spirituality and sexuality, helping professionals wanting to deepen their own work or explore questions of vocation, and people wanting to be more effective changemakers in the world. I will venture with you into what is not yet understood, so that we can discover together what is possible.

I am trained in IFS, EMDR, Trauma Integration, and Compassionate Inquiry.
Sometimes on our journey we need an objective guide. I can help you navigate your ability to manage problems involving "big feelings” that otherwise overwhelm. If your goal is to start getting new results for old recurring problems we can do that with compassion and curiosity. It is important for us to explore our history to understand why we think or behave the ways we currently do. While personal growth isn't always painless, you don't have to be alone in the process if you have a therapist who will commit to the process along side of you. I can help you gain new perspectives that will allow you to solve problems effectively.

Have you ever felt like the "scapegoat" of your family? The "outcast"? The "black sheep"? Were you labeled the “problem child”? If so, welcome. So was I. Growing up, most of my clients were deeply misunderstood and didn’t fit in. If you were told you were too much, too big, too different, difficult; if you were gaslit around your experience of a dysfunctional family, I am here to help. I work with people like you, many of whom are now parents themselves. My clients want to heal from childhood complex PTSD and attachment trauma , and they have found that traditional talk therapy hasn’t provided the transformation they are looking for.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
