Ever feel like life or motherhood reshaped you so deeply that you’re still figuring out who you are now… beyond the diapers, the schedules, and the expectations? I support Black women and mothers who are carrying more than anyone realizes... The pressure, the identity shifts, the silent grief, the anxiety, the constant expectation to be “strong,” and the parts of yourself that get pushed aside while you show up for everyone else.

As a licensed Clinical Social Worker and certified Life Coach, I bring over 30 yrs of experience and training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to my work, allowing me to tailor evidence-based approaches to each client's unique needs
For over 30 years, I have worked with high functioning clients who carry significant responsibility yet struggle privately with anxiety, overthinking, imposter syndrome, performance pressure, and work-life imbalance. On the outside, you may appear accomplished, respected, and financially secure. But on the inside, you may feel anxious, mentally drained, disconnected, or lonely. When life becomes overwhelming and leaves little room for self-care, restoration or balance. That's where I come in.

I work through a trauma-informed, relational, and non-judgmental framework to address your unique concerns even outside of PTSD through modalities like ACT, mindfulness, DBT, CBT, and ERP.
You're struggling to manage the impact of trauma or grief, and are tired of pretending you're fine. You often feel stuck and overwhelmed by your thoughts. You may be a gender minority or person of color feeling the weight of the current world. Many of the people I support are coping with anxiety, PTSD, or prolonged grief, and this often contributes to struggles with boundaries, perfectionism, low self-worth, and regulating emotions. Things can change for you! My treatment emphasizes strengths and person-centered approaches, committed to creating a safe environment that supports long-term growth and change.

At times, people need a safe and supportive environment to express their thoughts and feelings. Counseling is an opportunity for people to gain: awareness, acceptance, insight, and identify tools for relaxation and problem-solving. Counseling is a therapeutic relationship wherein your voice is heard.

I also use mindfulness based approaches like MBCT, DBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
We do the best we can for our lives, however, old and new trauma and life challenges may hold us back and create suffering. I have worked extensively with adults facing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, chronic pain, interpersonal issues and learnt that when people are given a safe environment to process their emotions, and held in compassion, there can be tremendous healing and big transformations. So no matter at what pace you want to go, this journey of healing and growth should not be a lonely one and I hope to be a part of your journey in your healing.

A person acts and reacts based on their knowledge, experiences and the world in which they live. That tells me that each person is unique. I utilize elements of many techniques to help individuals better understand themselves and the situations they have been in and are currently in. We can't change our past or others. However, we can gain knowledge, insight and skills to improve ourselves and help us cope with what we can't change. My goal is to aid you in identifying and learning skills to help you grow and live a happier life.

I integrate Cognitive & Dialectical Behavioral Therapies (CBT/ DBT) to strengthen insight and skills, EMDR Therapy to release trauma held in the body and mind, Internal Family Systems (IFS) to explore and heal protective parts, and Somatic & Mindfulness-Based Practices to regulate your nervous system and reconnect you with your body.

Do you walk on eggshells and constantly overanalyze? You are a capable adult who has survived childhood abuse, neglect or narcissistic abuse. Despite years of trying to be "perfect", you still feel like you are doing it wrong. You struggle with people pleasing, numbing out or use external success to try and fill you up. You startle easily and are hypervigilant in order to feel safe. You are not alone and I can help!

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
