Compulsions start stacking up before the day even begins.
My approach is grounded in evidence-based treatment and a deep understanding of how OCD actually shows up in real life. I believe therapy works best when you feel safe, understood, and supported. I’m a warm and deeply empathetic therapist, and I prioritize building a strong connection where you feel free to be fully yourself without judgment.

Many of the people I help struggle with traumatic memories, obsessive and disturbing thoughts and chronic anxiety and depression.
Within each one of us is an inner child that holds the many hurts of our life. To survive this world, we hide the child away, building strong brick walls, preventing the child from emerging. Sometimes we use our “busyness” to ignore the cries of the child behind the barricades. Or we turn to anger, addiction and numbness to drown out the deafening cries. In our moments of brokenness, we stop and wonder, “Is this how I will have to live the rest of my life?” Trauma touches us all in different ways. The role of a therapist is to guide you through the pain and hurt so you can live a life of intention, meaning and inner peace.

When human beings experience distress or severe life stressors, it is not unusual for their lives to unravel. My significant desire is creating therapeutic interventions to individuals who have been through a traumatic/stressful experience. I help my clients, who include children, adults, and families, to find healthy visions of themselves and aid their relationships. I know that no single method is the right one for every individual, and so I have experience in a range of modalities including TF-CBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing.

Hello! I’m Dr. Ashley Hennessey, a clinical psychologist who works with individuals who feel overwhelmed, stuck, and drained by the constant pressures of daily life. Many of my clients struggle to stay focused, manage responsibilities, or quiet the mental noise that keeps them spinning. They often feel on edge, caught in cycles of overthinking, worry, or perfectionism that make it hard to rest or feel at ease. I have particular experience working with physicians and other medical professionals who face unique stressors—the emotional toll of patient care, long hours, high stakes, and a culture that often discourages vulnerability.

I work with clients by utilizing their strengths in order to find solutions to their emotional and behavioral concerns. Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral techniques that are individualized to your needs and focusing on a collaborative relationship we will work together to improve your ability to cope with life's stressors. We will identify the negative thought patterns that interfere with your ability to reach your maximum potential by learning more adaptive thought patterns that don't interfere with what you hope to accomplish.

Sometimes we find ourselves walking through pain that doesn’t make sense—moments when the weight feels so heavy that it’s hard to imagine ever feeling whole again. In those spaces, it’s natural to wonder if you’ll get through it, if you’ll ever feel like yourself, or if light will ever break through the darkness. If you are hurting, anxious, depressed, or feeling hopeless right now, please know that your feelings are valid and they are not permanent. This moment does not have to define your future. Healing is possible, and brighter days are on the horizon.

Our ideal client is someone who feels overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally exhausted, even if they’ve been trying to manage on their own for a long time. Many are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, or major life transitions and want a space where they feel truly heard. They may have felt lost in larger systems and are looking for more personal, individualized care. Their goal is to gain clarity, build healthier coping skills, and feel more confident, grounded, and like themselves again.

On the outside, you’re successful and dependable. On the inside, you’re exhausted, anxious, burned out, or carrying stress that never fully shuts off. You may struggle with anxiety, trauma, or feel stuck despite achieving your goals. Over time, this disconnection from your authentic self creates deep distress. You want real connection, clarity, and the freedom to live on your own terms without guilt or fear. Our work focuses on meaningful, honest change that honors who you truly are.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
