While working in both school and outpatient settings I gained experience with a wide range of mental health needs such as anxiety , depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, ADHD, behavioral and emotional needs, family and relationship challenges.
I have diverse experience across populations for the last 9 years. I started out working as both an inpatient therapist as well as Therapeutic Staff Support in a school setting while studying for my graduate degree. I then moved on to work as a mobile therapist and school based therapist for years before working in a private practice environment. The primary populations I work with include children, adolescents, as well as young adults.

As a practicing, licensed therapist for the past 14 years, I have encouraged and supported many people to become their best selves. I have worked with people who were on very different journeys; with extensive experience with those who struggle with anxiety , depression, those who have experienced some kind of trauma in their life, who have self-esteem issues, grief and loss struggles, as well as substance abuse issues. My style of therapy draws from modalities such as cognitive- behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing, while I emphasize active listening and the implementation of a person centered, strengths- based approach.

I believe therapy is a personal journey that helps people develop insight into past and present experiences to ensure a more positive and healthy present and future. I have significant experience helping people manage feelings of anxiety and depression. I help people develop coping skills and strategies to manage anxiety and feel a sense of control over their thoughts and actions. Depression, lack of motivation, and hopelessness can feel overwhelming, so I feel committed to helping people develop and foster feelings of empowerment and fulfillment.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy has been found an effective treatment for people impacted by anxiety , depression, self-harm, and PTSD among many others.
What we tell ourselves is powerful. Our thoughts have an amazing influence over how we view ourselves and relate to the world around us. I often tell my clients that being aware of the connection between what we think, what we feel, and how we act is the " secret to life." This is often the first step in helping us make the changes that we want and/or need to make. Trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I am excited to offer groups, individual, and family sessions rooted in this model of therapy.

My specializations include couples work, women's life transitions, infertility, perinatal mood & anxiety disorders, maternal well-being, intermarriage and parenting.
Couples come to therapy often feeling frustrated, defensive, hurt and angry. Love, attraction and shared life goals may have brought them together, but along the way to deeper emotional intimacy couples meet roadblocks. Growing self-awareness and curiosity about their partner helps them appreciate their differences as enriching rather than threatening. Partners realize that each of them has a role in cultivating the quality of their relationship. Partners learn to support each other's growth and expand their horizons together. Their relationship feels more alive and hopeful. Therapy nurtures the art of relationships for all of us.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
