I am level 2 trained in EMDR and incorporate a variety of strategies such as IFS, cognitive strategies, psychodynamics, and experiential techniques into my practice.
Hi there! I'm so glad you're here! One of my most loved aspects of the work I do is seeing clients attain clarity, a sense of calm, healing, and moving towards their post traumatic growth. I am honored that you are considering allowing me to join you on your path towards relief from anxiety and the weight of moving through our complex world. I enjoy using curiosity and exploring with clients collaboratively to arrive together at an understanding of their internal experience. I believe everyone has the ability to grow, change, and evolve through self exploration; using this insight to inform how we move through life going forward.

I deeply value my relationships with clients and believe that significant healing occurs in the context of a safe, supportive environment. I empower clients to look honestly at difficult issues and make the changes necessary to enhance their lives. I believe therapy is a collaborative effort where I help client's access inner strengths and resources. We work together to get past barriers that are keeping you stuck in unproductive behavior patterns and unsatisfying relationships. The process of therapy often leads to greater self-awareness and self-acceptance, new ways of coping with life's challenges, and more fulfilling relationships.

I will develop a plan utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness and other modalities in our sessions.
I specialize in helping teens and adults experiencing anxiety, overthinking, and chronic stress who often feel overwhelmed or “stuck”. Many clients struggle with racing thoughts, self-doubt, burnout, and difficulty relaxing. Therapy offers a space to slow down, understand these patterns, and create lasting change with practical tools and insight. I also offer EMDR, an evidence-based therapy that helps reduce the emotional intensity of past experiences and supports relief from anxiety and stress.

Life and relationships can be challenging, especially when past experiences shape how you see yourself and others. These experiences often create patterns that keep you feeling stuck—like old wounds, fears, or beliefs that replay in your mind and impact how you show up. I work with all sorts of folks, including LGBTQ+ clients, those in alternative lifestyles, and people on more traditional paths. I offer a safe, affirming space for individuals, couples and families/systems to explore these patterns with compassion and curiosity, helping you understand what’s really going on beneath the surface.

I believe that the work of therapy needs to be done in an atmosphere of safety, intelligence, warmth and humor. Therapy is often hard work because it takes so much commitment for us to look at ourselves objectively and work through challenging issues in our lives. Sometimes we come to therapy because there is a specific situation that we need immediate and/or brief assistance with or for an objective voice of reason. Sometimes we come to therapy because there have been challenges over time that have gotten in our way of getting what we want out of our lives.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists
How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?
Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?
It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?
To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?
CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
