"Starting psychotherapy can be an exciting and anxiety-provoking process as you take active steps to make changes in your life and relationships. I approach psychotherapy as a collaboration and work in an integrative way, tailoring interventions to individual needs. I believe that therapy's aim is not only to make improvements but also to manage disappointments. To this end, we can simultaneously engage in meaningful explorations while developing important coping skills, including mindfulness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance. I offer individual, couples, and family psychotherapy to adults, children, and adolescents, and work with different family and relationship configurations."

"Coming for therapy can be one of the most important investments one can make. We often take the time to invest when considering purchasing a car or a home. However, when it comes to investing in oneself, we too often are found lacking. This self-care is the very foundation in which everything else depends upon. If we are not taken care of, it negatively impacts our ability to take care of anything else."

"What do you picture when you think of starting therapy? I've found it useful to begin by exploring together at your pace what's brought you here. Maybe it's something that feels unsatisfying or limiting. You may or may not know what you want for yourself, and what keeps you from getting it. Through our work together, we will begin to discover what isn't working for you and why. We will identify goals and begin to experiment with actions to overcome the roadblocks and old ways of being that no longer serve you."

A practically-oriented, emotionally alive connection with someone who speaks your intimate language makes all the difference. It repairs old wounds, resolves unfinished business, and provides tools to confront whatever life presents and helps you become your truest, deepest self. In my books--two address problem siblings and another explains obsessive love--I bring the same passionate commitment I do to the people I work with in therapy. Out of Network Therapists
An out-of-network Therapist in New York has not agreed to any set rate with your insurer. Your plan may require higher co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance for out-of-network care and you may need to pay the difference between your insurer's allowed amount and what the Therapist charges.

The costs for a New York out-of-network Therapist also depend on your type of plan:

In a Health Maintenance Organization, or HMO, or Exclusive Provider Network, or EPO, you generally have to pay the full cost of any out-of-network care.

In a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) or Point-of-Service (POS) plan, you will usually have to pay a higher deductible and or a higher co-pay plus a higher percentage co-insurance plus, the difference between the allowed amount and your provider's actual rate.

How can I tell if a therapist is right for me?
Therapists in New York are able to work with a wide range of issues.

For example, if you're seeking a marriage counselor in New York you'll find that most therapists are trained in marriage counseling or couples counseling in New York and couples therapy. And they welcome families for family counseling in New York or family therapy in New York.
