Dr. Lysandra Perez-Strumolo is a NJ licensed psychologist, an EMDRIA certified EMDR therapist, & bilingual (Spanish). Dr. Perez-Strumolo has specialized training the treatment of children, adolescents & adults with anxiety and symptoms related to psychological trauma (single, complex, or relationship-related trauma). My name is Joe and I am a LPC committed to providing compassionate, explorative, and solution focused care to my clients. My specializations include; the treatment of Anxiety, Depression, Trauma (PTSD), OCD, Personality Disorders, and LGBTQIA+ Issues. In treatment I utilize DBT, CBT, and Existential Therapy techniques to guide clients towards effectively regulating emotions, tolerating distress, improving interpersonal relationships, and observing/adjusting behaviors. I rely on EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) protocols to help individuals with trauma or PTSD decrease related symptoms and move towards healing.

Crisis is defined as a crucial stage or turning point, and my goal is to help you to effectively navigate this turning point in your life. Often people struggle to manage their intense emotions and have difficulty with relationships and managing life issues. I work with individuals, couples, and families to help reduce overall distress, develop more effective communication, and build or improve relationships. I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) through Behavioral Tech, and identify targets and teach skills to reduce stress and intense emotions to maintain balance and build a life worth living, and use a DBT-informed approach to treatment.

My natural focus is on individuals experiencing symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). I believe that making a strong connection right from the start is important and when an individual feels like he or she is understood, he or she is more willing to give the process of change a try. It also helps when those who experience ADHD or ASD are able to accept that what they are living with is not a disability but rather a strength and that it is okay to feel and be different. I say this from experience because I am childhood diagnosed.

I have over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults. I work with ages 8 and up. I provide therapy to those suffering from anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress disorder, bi-polar, borderline personality disorder, postpartum depression and marital conflict.

I am a unique therapist in that I am classically trained and deeply rooted in formal psychoanalysis, yet I am also certified in the complementary techniques of energy psychology to help heal trauma and personal blocks. I have experience with individuals and couples in private practice for over 30 years. Therapy sessions with me allow you the choice of incorporating energy psychology or using only traditional talk therapy.
