I recognize that seeking therapy is in itself a sign of strength and courage, as it can seem easier to try to ignore difficult and repetitive thoughts, emotions, or experiences. I aim to create a warm and supportive space for self-exploration, helping to bring old, unconscious patterns to light and thus begin loosening the hold of self limiting beliefs. In spite of all we cannot control, in learning to relate to our experiences in new ways we can become more grounded and compassionate with ourselves and others.

As the global pandemic has shown us, sometimes life becomes overwhelming and uncontrollable. During these times it may be best to talk with someone outside of your community of family, friends or co-workers. A warm hearted professional to lend a moment of support and guidance. I share with clients in deciding how best to approach the issues, with the intent of addressing both the current distressing symptoms and long-standing patterns of behavior that are getting in the way of a thriving life. My practice is telehealth-based, and I accept direct pay (some prefer for privacy) as well as most PPO plans as an Out of Network provider.

Life is full of challenges and unpredictable, we can’t always mitigate or control these; the key is to be aware of our maladaptive behaviors and build strength by enhancing our awareness and creating a new path for ourselves, family, and/or couple. We understand that not everyone can heal and cope the same way.

*Accepting new clients* My work aims to help individuals develop a deeper connection with themselves and how they relate to the world around them. Together, we will cultivate a greater sense of self-awareness to drive positive change in your life. I tend to focus on identifying maladaptive patterns in thoughts and coping strategies, understanding where these patterns stem from and what maintains them, and exploring more sustainable, affirming approaches. Often times this means examining attachments and ruptures in early development to consider how they continue to present in day-to-day life.

My Ideal client: 36 yo male, divorced, with two children. The patient was incarcerated 16 years, due to drug addiction/trafficking. He spent his early childhood living with his mother and father, who sexually abused him. They were also addicted to drugs due to their childhood experiences of being abused. The patient's parents also prostituted him in exchange for drugs for others. The patient turned to drugs to escape the pain, embarrassment, and overall trauma from his childhood. He now wants sobriety and to overcome his trauma, which includes flashbacks and negative self-image, self-hatred, and hatred of his parents.

As an Acute/Critical Care Nurse Practitioner, I was not cognizant of the impact of mental illness on family and society, until I decided to pursue a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Degree. I believe that societal stigmatization of mental illness, and the shame felt by families who have a loved one with mental illness, makes it difficult for these patients to recover, and live peacefully for the rest of their lives. Psychiatric illness should be treated like a medical illness with no stigma, no blame or shame.

Greenleaf Therapy specializes in anxiety, OCD and depression in children, adolescents and adults using a combination of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while also incorporating elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI). We offer individual therapy and group therapy, as well as an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for anxiety/OCD in children/adolescents.

I specialize in working with children and adolescents who struggle to manage daily stressors and feel out of control in some way shape or form. Independent of my job at MGH/Harvard Medical School as a clinical psychologist, I see clients in my private practice (Psychological Care and Consultancy, PLLC). I provide video telehealth only. I have extensive experience treating adults and 65+ suffering from anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, trauma, grief and loss, adjustment difficulties, low self-esteem, stresses associated with relationship and family conflicts, and educational and occupational concerns.
