You don't have to continue repeating these old self-destructive patterns. Reaching out for help can feel scary, but it can also be the first step toward overcoming the obstacles and challenges that are keeping you from the fulfilling and meaningful life that you deserve. If old coping strategies are no longer serving you, or worse, are becoming self destructive, it may be time to reach out and accept help. I deeply empathize with the feeling of fear and isolation one feels when suffering in silence, as well as the tremendous courage it takes to reach out for support.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a core part of engaging in healthy life changes. Change is very difficult for most people and sometimes all it takes is to talk about your struggles and have someone to listen and try to understand. My belief is that the therapy relationship can help the healing process no matter what it is you are dealing with. The first step towards having a happy life is a healthy mind.

Have you ever looked at your life and thought, “Why is this happening? Is it always going to be like this? What can I do?” Do you feel anxious, sad or misunderstood more often than not? Maybe life seems easier and better for everyone around you. Maybe you're surrounded by people, but you feel alone. Your relationships feel like a struggle to maintain. Conflict and discomfort seem like the norm, not the exception. Sometimes it seems like it will never get better and no one understands.

I'm a clinical psychologist practicing with those who suffer from depression, anxiety, obsessions, anger, aloofness, issues of identity and intimacy, difficult life circumstances and many other problems. While I value knowledge about psychopathology, I find a purely diagnosis-based approach to be insufficient. Instead, we can be curious together about those factors which underlie and perpetuate your particular suffering. This process of exploration and discovery can only happen in a safe and confidential relationship. It is always a great privilege when someone chooses to reveal themselves to me on deeply personal levels.

Out of Network Therapists
An out-of-network Therapist in California has not agreed to any set rate with your insurer. Your plan may require higher co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance for out-of-network care and you may need to pay the difference between your insurer's allowed amount and what the Therapist charges.

The costs for a California out-of-network Therapist also depend on your type of plan:

In a Health Maintenance Organization, or HMO, or Exclusive Provider Network, or EPO, you generally have to pay the full cost of any out-of-network care.

In a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) or Point-of-Service (POS) plan, you will usually have to pay a higher deductible and or a higher co-pay plus a higher percentage co-insurance plus, the difference between the allowed amount and your provider's actual rate.

How can I tell if a therapist is right for me?
Therapists in California are able to work with a wide range of issues and communities, including the BIPOC community in California. They offer in person sessions as well as Teletherapy in California

For example, if you're seeking a marriage counselor in California you'll find that most therapists are trained in marriage counseling or couples counseling in California and couples therapy. And they welcome families for family counseling in California or family therapy in California.
