"The goals of therapy are to achieve balance and wholeness and improve the over-all quality of life. I can help you do this by helping you gain an understanding of your behavior, identify obstacles that keep you stuck, and change old patterns that are no longer working for you. Often old beliefs from childhood continue to affect us throughout the life cycle. I can help you re-examine your old beliefs and make new decisions, which will lead to improved mood and greater effectiveness in all areas of your life. In addition to a general adult practice, my areas of specialty are women's health care, and stress management."

"I provide individual and family therapy to adults and adolescents who are experiencing distress due to transitions in some aspect of their life, whether it is a changing role, experiencing loss, health problems or relationship difficulties. I approach problems from a BioPsychoSocial perspective, which takes into account all of the factors in one's life and how they might contribute to - and help to SOLVE - problems. In addition to focusing on difficult transitions, I have a special focus on co-parenting after divorce and "failure to launch" issues. "

"If you've found me here then you must be gearing up to make some changes in your life. Maybe you're worrying too much and happy too little. Maybe you're feeling lost, hopeless, or in a rut. Wherever you are, you've decided you want to feel better and be better, and you've shown the courage to ask for support. What a wonderful thing. My work with you will be collaborative, caring, and non-judgmental. I will help you reconnect to your inner-resources and strengths, to build new coping skills and problem-solving strategies, and to then apply those new ways of "being" in order to live a life that feels fulfilling and joyful to you. "As a couples therapist, I believe that two strong "I's" make the strongest possible "We." I also believe that counseling can help you to thrive, not just survive! Adversity offers people the opportunity to become stronger, not in SPITE of the challenge, but BECAUSE of it. Actually, resilience in the face of hard times, means developing the ability to bounce FORWARD. And the good news is it can be taught! Whether you just discovered an affair, your partner abuses drugs,or you just need the arguments to end, I have the insight and teaching principles to help you obtain long-lasting change."

"Tossing and turning, can't sleep, worried all the time and so much change feels uncertain. Though I've never met you, I imagine how uncertain it feels to have so much change happening at once and your relationships under stress. Whether you're in a relationship or just ended one, you probably find yourself overthinking and feeling lonely and disconnected. Sometimes you just need to talk things out in a safe place with zero judgment with a strategy and a direction towards a solution."

"As a family therapist for over twenty-five years, I combine various approaches to meet the individual needs of my clients. My style is collaborative and supportive and I'm passionate about what I do. I specialize in two unrelated populations: young people from age thirteen through their mid- twenties, and anyone suffering loss, especially the loss of a pet. Perhaps because I still have vivid memories of my young self, and because the animal-human bond is so strong, these topics have special meaning for me. Subspecialties include trauma and stress management including EMDR, couple's work, and parenting."

"I believe a central component of the therapeutic process is the relationship that's established between the therapist and the client. A safe and trusting relationship provides an environment in which you are able to explore those unresolved issues and old patterns that are not letting you have the quality of life you would like to have. Therapy is an opportunity to identify what's not working for you, view it from different angles, and learn strategies that will result in alternate ways of relating to yourself and to others that may be more conducive to becoming the person you want to be."

Some have learned do so through humor, isolation, or work, while others learned to do so with drugs, alcohol, or sex. Out of Network Therapists
An out-of-network Therapist in San Diego has not agreed to any set rate with your insurer. Your plan may require higher co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance for out-of-network care and you may need to pay the difference between your insurer's allowed amount and what the Therapist charges.

The costs for a San Diego out-of-network Therapist also depend on your type of plan:

In a Health Maintenance Organization, or HMO, or Exclusive Provider Network, or EPO, you generally have to pay the full cost of any out-of-network care.

In a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) or Point-of-Service (POS) plan, you will usually have to pay a higher deductible and or a higher co-pay plus a higher percentage co-insurance plus, the difference between the allowed amount and your provider's actual rate.

How can I tell if a therapist is right for me?

For example, if you're seeking a marriage counselor in San Diego you'll find that most therapists are trained in marriage counseling or couples counseling in San Diego and couples therapy. And they welcome families for family counseling in San Diego or family therapy in San Diego.
