Licensed Professional Counselor, MS, NCC, LPC, CFRC
Greetings! I'm Chera, and I have focused the scope of my private practice on three very specialized (and desperately underserved) groups at high risk of suicidality within our community. Since graduating grad school in 2011, I have been treating people with gender dysphoria, in 2016 I began helping our veterans/military with PsychArmor training, and recently I earned my certification as a first responder counselor to provide crisis, cumulative trauma, and emotional agility training for our first responders.
I have had the privilege of witnessing people undergo the slow, extremely subtle and remarkable journey of healing and self-transformation. This process of psychological growth is astoundingly complex, multilayered, circular and even mysteriously numinous in its unfolding. My philosophy as a therapist is primarily on core transformation rather than merely symptom management and needless to say, I strongly believe in the centrality of the therapeutic relationship as a significant healing agent. Moving towards our wholeness necessitates the courage to first move into the wounded parts that we all have as members of the human species.
As a mental health professional, I bring nearly a decade of experience to benefit clients from a broad range of backgrounds. My professional style is holistic, high-energy, compassionate, organized, and solution focused with motivation to assist clients in meeting their needs and develop skills through therapeutic treatment to achieve their optimal level of emotional health. I am available to all individuals at various stages of their mental health journey. Similarly to my choice of approach, the ultimate objective of our time together will differ between individuals, and we can work together to identify your personal goals.
I offer individual sessions to children, adolescents, and adults who experience a wide range of symptoms. Although I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, and mood disorders, I also have experience working with individuals with psychotic disorders and personality disorders. Family therapy is available for families who want to improve their relationships with one another.
I work with primarily with adults, young adults, and teens. I utilize a relational based approach that incorporates evidence based practices such as Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), somatic/body work, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness practices. I will create a custom plan with you based off your needs, strengths, and preferences. I have a deep passion for helping people move through personal transitions, work on identity and belonging, and gain insights into their process.
Reaching out for help can be scary but it's also very courageous. Congratulations on taking the first step. It would be my honor to work with you. In individual, couple, or family sessions, I work with my clients to create inner and outer peace using evidence-based modalities. I believe that the healing journey is about creating awareness of our already existing inner resources and adding more to our resource toolbox so we can live our best life. I often work with clients facing life transitions, conflict, anxiety, depression, and trauma. Together we discuss how to increase positivity and find confidence in one’s own abilities.
Do you feel sad, anxious, lonely, or misunderstood by others? Perhaps you feel discouraged by repetitive, heart-wrenching patterns in your relationships with loved ones, or obstacles to progressing in your career? As a well-trained, experienced, and compassionate psychotherapist, I have helped many people overcome difficulties they worried might be intractable. My aim is to help you think about and get beyond the specific challenges in your life using methods that have proven efficacy. I work collaboratively in setting goals, solving problems, and uncovering the factors that drive your distressing feelings, thoughts, or behaviors.
Are you an empathic woman who easily feels and holds the energy of what's around you? Do you have difficulty knowing if your thoughts or emotions really belong to you? Are you holding on to past experiences that cause you distress? Are you seeking a holistic and integrative aligned solution to let go of unwanted energy? As an LPC with a Ph.D in counseling psychology and certifications as a Reiki master, clinical hypnotherapist, past life regression hypnotherapist & integrative medicine, I am able to blend these complimentary techniques to help you understand and release what no longer serves you.
You are the expert of your own life. You hold all of the answers within you. Together, we will uncover and explore these aspects of yourself. As your counselor, I will provide a safe, compassionate space for you to discover your truth. It is an honor to stand with my clients as they navigate through hardships and challenges. This is a judgment free zone. We all have blindspots within our own lives that require support from others. Counseling can help you look into those unseen places to gain new perspectives and objective feedback.
I help people transform themselves. If you are tired of being stuck and want to live the life you desire, I'm your guy. I work best with people who are ready to do the work, who are open to the exploration of Self and healing. If you are here exploring psychotherapy options then that means you! I work with people that are both looking to heal, or those that are feeling pretty good but want to level up (however what is nice is that both often end up occurring). I work with mostly adult men and women and do see some teens if they are older or emotionally mature. I also offer Men's groups in addition to individual psychotherapy.
I believe that every person has the ability to heal and lead satisfying and fulfilling lives. Everyone does the best with what they have and that life presents significant challenges and all of our behaviors makes sense in context. Problems do not exist within one person but are the result of a person’s context, family or relational systems, circular patterns, external systems, and learned behaviors that once had a functional purpose but no longer do. I consider health to be the culmination of mental, physical, spiritual, and relational states, and I will work from this inclusive and holistic perspective.
****NOT**** Not accepting new patients at this time. I specialize in helping people overcome issues with depression, anxiety, worry, negativity, and/or addictions. Often genetics, childhood and adult trauma, stressful relationships, insomnia, diet and general self care can be contributing factors. Talking with a licensed psychologist can help you with such dilemmas and in gaining a new perspective on life. My goal is to help explore new ways to handle such roadblocks and to live a full and enjoyable life.
I have a passion for working with individuals who are living with depression, anxiety, addictions, trauma, PTSD, C-PTSD, and borderline personality disorder. You may be struggling with emotion regulation, feeling stuck, persistanly sad, or hopeless. As a therapist I am here to help identify symptoms, create a collaborative treatment plan, and gently move you into healing to attain your therapy goals. My counseling style infuses kindness, humor, and compassion to best support you in our sessions together.
I offer a safe and engaging space for anyone seeking to enrich their lives. You may be in crisis, need to deal with relationship, work or personal issues, or may simply want to be getting more out of life. Whether you are coming to therapy for the first time or have prior experience, it can feel like a daunting step into the unknown. I offer long and short-term therapy as well as life coaching. My approach is down-to-earth, interactive, and practical. I work with my clients to solve life's problems in a deeply personal and individual way.
Accepting new coaching clients. I work with individuals and couples to create optimal, practical, effective and lasting solutions to health, relationship and life challenges. Using a variety of client-centered, solution-focused strategies, our work together is founded upon present moment awareness of the body, mind and environment to empower, liberate and increase your insight in order to move towards health, balance and satisfaction in your life.
I provide professional mental health services to individuals, couples, and families. My belief is that each person is unique and that everyone has the ability to discover and create desired changes in their lives. I approach therapy as a joint endeavor in which you and I work together to understand your goals, uncover and approach difficulties, and move toward healthy functioning and personal fulfillment.
Do you feel that you and your family have been struggling lately? are you, or your family members struggling with anything that you are not certain how to deal with? No matter how much you have tried things seem to be the same or seem to be getting worse for you and your family? Do you feel accepted and understood?
Over the years I see that I am very well-suited to work with clients who are experiencing a major life transition. These include changes in relationship status, employment, health, sexual/ gender identity, military/ civilian, as well as retirement/ aging concerns. While transitions can bring new opportunities, such changes also come with an array of losses, endings and goodbyes. Transitions can generate challenging symptoms, including a sense of starting over and/or confronting the unknown. Life can lead one to a place where it can push you to explore your personality and life choices, and make new sense of your life experiences.
It is a great honor to travel alongside a person who has decided to embark upon a path of discovery, whether wanting to understand issues regarding relationships, what drives reactions, achieving growth and healing, coping with grief & loss, or the aging process. I believe that we are all capable of transforming old beliefs into new freedoms, and of moving beyond the patterns we have developed in the past as a response to our surroundings. If we choose to work together, I am committed to working collaboratively with you to help you achieve your goals.
