We all have the capacity to heal and make deep and lasting change; my practice is dedicated to offering emotional skills with the warmth and acceptance that nurtures change. I have years of experience helping children, adolescents, and families, with a focus on helping individuals of all ages heal from distressing and traumatic circumstances and the depression and anxiety that can follow. I am comfortable in helping with short-term stressors, or long-term personal growth. I believe that every person is strong, capable, and has the innate ability to grow, have loving relationships, and feel free and alive.
Are you struggling with daily stressors and significant life events that show up as anxiety, depression or intense overwhelming feelings? Do you experience a lack of motivation or focus? Do you struggle with navigating healthy relationships and everyday living, or do you simply want to explore your behaviors and motivations in life? Together we can better understand how culture, background and core values impact how we behave in order to get our needs met.
Are you getting what you want out of life? I help my clients identify and let go of negative feelings, old behavior patterns, and ways of thinking that prevent them from living the life they want. Counseling can help you experience the joy of self-acceptance and the peace of mind that comes with healthy self-esteem. In the process, you can create stronger relationships, improve your communication with others, and see new possibilities for your life.

As a therapist I value connection between myself and clients which I believe to be one of the most important aspects of therapy. I am dedicated to working with people who are feeling stuck in their life. My goal is to help clients explore what leads them to therapy, and how their variety of experiences plays into the whole of their life. As my client, we will work together through your struggles and create a plan, and proceed down the road to healing. I want to encourage the belief that no matter your hurdles, your journey to exploring your feelings can be supported with therapy.
My passion is in connecting clients to their inner process - what is trying to happen - as demonstrated by their symptoms. Once we discover the issue and address it, the symptoms no longer need to be present. This approach is from a type of Jungian psychotherapy called Process Oriented Psychology, which holds as its premise that there is always something right about what is going on in our lives - our process. It also includes a mixture of some Taoism and Buddhism, and can include work with body symptoms, dreams, and relationships. I look forward to talking with you to see how I might help you resolve your personal issues.
As an art therapist and counselor, I am passionate about providing a compassionate, collaborative, and authentic experience for growth and healing. My approach to therapy is strengths-based, person-centered, trauma-informed and resiliency-focused with an intersectional lens. I provide individual counseling for youth and adults ages 18 and older and have experience working with individuals to address a variety of concerns including trauma, experiences of abuse or violence, PTSD, depression, and anxiety.
All families experience transitions, and even positive change can cause stress. I employ an eclectic approach with a strong emphasis on attachment, structural, and solution-focused family therapies. I work with young children and their caregivers to form secure attachments early on. This leads to more effective communication and problem solving patterns and a higher level of resilience down the road. My work tends to be short term and builds on the existing strengths of your family. My work with couples is attachment informed as we look at past and current relationships to elucidate our most fulfilling ways of connecting.

Reaching out for help is difficult especially when you are feeling overwhelmed. It can be challenging to find a counselor you can trust to help you experience healing and growth. Change is best facilitated through a relationship where you feel safe and can work on real issues. To assist you in this process here is some information about myself. I work with a wide range of people to address the problems they are experiencing. I believe each person is unique and have strengths that can be used to overcome the problems they are facing. We will work together to develop a plan for you to become the best version of yourself.
I believe the transforming power of psychotherapy and coaching begins with a vital connection between you and me. Our conversations create a safe and nurturing space for you to grow in the confidence of your worth, your aspirations, and your life circumstances. From this awareness comes a deeper knowing of yourself and a more effective "hands on" capacity for dealing thoughtfully and constructively with the challenges of living. Together, we define your goals for therapy, and together we create the path to make these goals your reality. I invite you to join with me in this process.

It doesn't interest me what you do for a living, how old you are, or how much money you have, whom you know or how you came to be here.
I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing..."
~~ from "The Invitation" by Elder Oriah Mountain Dreamer.
I enjoy working with people who want to understand themselves in a deeper way, who want to uncover and heal the patterns of behavior that have kept them from living their dreams.
A person's trajectory in life can be offset by a history of stress, strain and compromises. Therapy can re-orient a person to their true needs, allowing them to become more effective in many aspects of their lives: at work, home, and in relationships. I offer a collaborative, safe, and respectful environment where conversations unfold at their own pace. It is important that a person trusts the therapist who they work with and is able to discuss their problems openly. The right "fit" between therapist and patient can be determined best after an initial consultation.
I work with people having a wide range of concerns. Areas of specialty include identity formation, relationship dynamics, loss, and issues of spirituality (both questioning and growth). I work especially well with persons who are curious about themselves and their ways of interacting with the world. I practice relationally-based psychoanalytic psychotherapy; meaning that, where relevant, we talk about relationships in your life impacting your way of navigating the world. We have each found ways to survive our world as best we can; at some point, we may consider wanting to shift these ways because they do not work as well as they once did.
This is your life. It is important. Figuring things out for yourself doesn't mean doing it alone. Therapy helps reconnect to fundamentals, grow from pain, and cultivate health. Your therapist is your partner on the journey who helps you build pathways, forge deeper connections, relationships, and live authentically in the world. We tune into the core of the matter, and acknowledge the impacts of history and society as well. LGBTQ+ experienced. Welcoming all humans.
My philosophy of therapy includes helping you appreciate the inner wisdom, resiliency, courage and strengths that you already have. I have the hope of a better life for you enjoying a fulfilling, joyous and satisfying life until you can envision that reality for yourself. I believe in treating all clients respectfully and creating a therapeutic environment of safety, trust and mutual respect. You have the right to make your own decisions and together we will explore the consequences of your decisions. As a part of the Willamette Sky Counseling team, I will do my best to give the highest quality service.
Life, at times, is chaotic and absurd. So often we carry burdens born out of stress, heartache, frustration, sadness, anger, and confusion. Often we find ourselves in a place where things need sorting out--a safe place to discover clarity. I love working with individuals to build on what is working for them as a person. Understanding your interests, how you see yourself, the world, and other people who have a place in your life. Let's find the barriers that keep you from greater insight. This is vital to your growth as an individual. I would be honored to participate with you in finding your path to peace, success, and joy.
I’m similar to the clients I work with in a lot of ways. Before becoming a psychologist, I held numerous jobs as a warehouse worker, a cook, a salesman, a teacher, and a nurse. I began working in mental health in the 1983 first as an assistant for hospitalized persons suffering with mental illness. I then became a psychiatric nurse where I helped clients with their medications the psychiatrist prescribed them. For the last 24 years I have provided psychotherapy to hundreds of clients. I think my long time working as a therapist and my down to earth nature is what makes me different.
