I am committed and interested in helping my clients strengthen their connections to others while simultaneously developing the tools to create personal feelings of confidence, strength, and fulfullment within themselves. Although I cater to each client specifically, my general plan of action consists of the immediate alleviation of symptoms, in concert with an in-depth look at related patterns established throughout the client's lifetime. In other words, first we can tend to the flower's blossom, but then let us tend to its roots.
Are you having difficulty overcoming a problem, mood or behavior? If an issue is not relatively easy to change, then chances are, there is a block of some sort preventing the progression and flow of positive thoughts, feelings and behaviors. It is frustrating, discouraging and painful as an intelligent and competent person to work on a goal and not get the results you hope for.
My hope for therapy and our collaborations together is that you can start to become more intune with your thoughts, actions, and emotions. While in therapy, you are in charge, and we will work together to overcome whatever obstacles life has thrown at you. Together we will explore those barriers and develop techniques to empower you towards being your Bestself. As we work to build the therapeutic relationship, I will help you identify vital resources and social supports that could help decrease unfavorable symptoms while working together to identify a positive outlook on life and regain a sense of self outside of therapy.
Often we seek out counseling when we're not feeling like ourselves, we feel out of control, we struggle to manage life's changes, or we feel dissatisfied with our life's direction. Sometimes we just feel stuck. Regardless of the reason, we naturally question change but can be unsure of the process. I provide a collaborative space to define that process and connect the person you see yourself as to the person you aspire to be. As a therapist and musician, my eclectic style and strategies are focused on building self-respect, healthy boundaries, insight, confidence, and self-compassion.

Are you a seeker who asks the existential questions in life. Do you identify with the LGBTQIA+ community, the polyamorous/ENM community, or the BDSM/kink community? Guided by the principle of the Carl Rogers' quote, "The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change, I am here" to hold space in a safe environment and meet you where and how you are.
I work with a large number of other therapists and we always have the ability to see you, usually the same week. My approach is narrative and person centered with a focus on introspection. If you haven't found the right fit - where you feel honored and heard, reach out and connect. Sometimes the most difficult part of finding a therapist is making the first phone call.
*Not accepting new clients at this time* I work collaboratively with partners, families, and individuals that want to foster connection and form deeper, more loving relationships. I am enthusiastic about helping folks improve communication, create meaningful connection with loved ones, heal from past hurts, form healthy emotional bonds, and increase harmony. I will help you implement practical skills that enhance your strengths and address personal life challenges.
I focus my therapy working with children, teenagers, couples, families and minority groups. I am invested in an approach that emphasizes a more integrative, dynamic, and holistic approach to mental health. I am particularly concerned with the impact of trauma and loss and improving interventions to support trauma recovery for better relationship, physical, and emotional health. My goal as a therapist is not to fix anyone but to help guide you to find the right path that will benefit you and add value to your life.

CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS. Creating a "Life Worth Living" is what we will do together. My approach is active and practical. You will be welcomed into a supportive, collaborative environment where we will work together to create genuine solutions to the challenges of simply being human - in an often difficult world. I focus on multiple components of behavior: actions, thinking and feeling. I utilize primarily DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy). Both approaches provide a wide range of skills acquisition to create new insight and growth and form a foundation for lifelong success.
***unable to accept new clients at this time*** I work with individuals with an emphasis on helping the body recover from the physical effects of post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, grief and loss. In turn, the body's recovery can facilitate the integration of the whole person by bringing together mind, body, emotion, and spirit.
For the past 25 years, I have worked with individuals with a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, grief and bereavement, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), sleep difficulties, troubled relationships, marital distress, chronic illness, and life transitions. My practice currently focuses on working with clients who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and other neurological disorders. I also see patients with cancer across the cancer continuum, from diagnosis, treatment, to survivorship or recurrence and end of life. I am passionate about working with both of these patient groups.

At Rooted Self Therapy, I hold space for people facing all types of things that encompass our collective human experience. Some key areas that I support people with are: building inner trust and attunement to one’s needs, finding relief from anxiety through the cultivation of self-regulation and nervous system support, navigating loss and major life transitions, healing from traumatic events, past or present, exploring ways of living in alignment with one’s desires, and creating a relationship with one’s self that is rooted in compassion and acceptance.
I have two specialties, working with children and parents through adoption issues and working with children whose parents are experiencing separation and divorce.
