As a person and as a counselor my focus is on developing relationships that foster wholeness. I am not interested in diagnosing and treating symptoms. I help clients who are interested in going deeper into their humanity and discovering the richness that can be found in seeking wholeness. I work with youth, adults, and couples who are experiencing existential, spiritual, and/or relational problems.
It is not uncommon to feel lost at different points in your life. Life can be complicated: Family dynamics, career fulfillment, managing multiple responsibilities, understanding your partner, overwhelmed from parenting. I believe that together we can process your experiences which can lead to a meaningful life and personal growth. It's a huge step attending therapy and I welcome you with sensitivity toward the issues that afflict you. I am a Latinx therapist dedicated to working with adults.
We all experience times in our life when additional support could be helpful. Unfortunately, during these times seeking support can feel overwhelming and vulnerable. I realize it can take a great deal of courage and trust to reach out. As a therapist, I have deep respect for the people that I work with and it’s important to me that I understand my clients experiences and work collaboratively with them to support their goals. My approach is strength-based, trauma-informed, and rooted within a multicultural/feminist framework that attends to context, reinforces resilience, and focuses on empowerment.
I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents and families. I specialize in early childhood mental health, trauma, at-risk adolescents, depression, anxiety and identity issues ( in relation to acculturation, biculturalism and/or effects of human migration/immigration).
I provide psychotherapy with compassion, humor and ability to be transparent, direct and authentic. I provide a supportive environment for people going through difficult life transitions, coming to terms with painful experiences, recognizing unhelpful patterned behavior. I provide support and awareness for how to get your needs met effectively and sustainably, as well as develop and maintain more satisfying and nourishing relationships. My work is centered around helping you develop awareness of yourself, your interactions with others, and the impact you have, which then allows for lasting change and meaningful connection.

Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, PsyD, CADC
I provide a safe, compassionate, and collaborative space to help you to explore your past, celebrate your strengths, and work toward your future. I work with adults and adolescents who are experiencing challenges with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, grief, overwhelming life transitions, creative block, academic or career burnout, self-esteem, phobias, stress management, sports performance, and other struggles.
I provide professional counseling in a warm, safe environment. I utilize a variety of approaches, techniques and strategies that are tailored for the treatment of each client's individual needs and goals. My practical view of the function of counseling is as a journey of self-exploration by the client, meant to increase his/her level of self-understanding and self-awareness. I as counselor act as the guide or facilitator of this journey. I believe every person has a unique God-given purpose, and my counseling approach is tailored to each unique individual.
Maybe your teen or partner is depressed? Stuck on Internet Porn? Maybe you have somehow been victimized? Feel anxious, or alone? Loss of loved ones? I offer a relationship based, non-judgmental approach informed by tested, evidence-based practices, including CBT and EMDR therapies - neither of which demand medication. EMDR directly targets traumatic or hurtful memories and helps put them "in the past." This has been shown to help with anxiety/fear, panic attacks, nightmares, self-esteem issues and various other symptoms associated with post traumatic stress. CBT further offers you the chance to not be overwhelmed by your experience.

Hi! My name is Amber and I am an LCSW in Portland, Oregon. I have much experience working with teens, families, and adults particularly around trauma and more severe symptoms of anxiety and depression. My experience has also brought me to working with those with addiction, chronic pain, comorbid disorders, body image issues, gender questions, and self-harm. I have a particular affinity for people who have endured trauma and who feel like they are outsiders. I pride myself in being culturally sensitive and welcoming to all, and someone who works as part of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Many people struggle with asking for help. The fact that you are here shows your strength and resilience. Therapy gold star for you and we haven't even started yet! I imagine you are here because something is not working; perhaps it's past or current trauma, substance use, family relationships, mental health, sexuality, work stress, life transitions, all of these-or something else. What is important is you are looking for someone to meet you where you are, extend out their hand and say; "I'm here, and I will walk along this path with you in the way you need. You are safe." I would be honored to be that person in your process.
Are you struggling to cope with the stress of life's transitions? Do you suffer from depression, anxiety, or PTSD? Are these struggles negatively impacting your life? I believe in an integrative approach to therapy that is client centered and fosters deeper awareness and connection in your life. I use evidence-based therapies that are scientifically proven to be effective, while bringing in principles of mindfulness and self-compassion to facilitate a deeper sense of personal awareness. Together we will identify your values and how therapy can help to address your unique needs and expand your quality of life.
Please note: I will be out of the office until the end of September and will return inquiries at that time! I work with folks who want help understanding themselves, finding compassion and acceptance for themselves and figuring out more fulfilling ways to live. My clients often have trauma in their backgrounds and a big part of my work is giving them the tools and information they need to operate trauma-affected brains with less strife, more delight. I also work with folks around identity, sexuality and gender, helping them reject shame and grasp hold of the life they want to live authentically.
I believe "kids do well if they can." I want to help you and the people in your life figure out what you need to do well. Using person-centered, mindfulness and somatic based, and Collaborative Problem Solving strategies, I've also helped adults find success, since so much of therapy is about patterns formed in childhood for anyone. Creating a space for healing and growth, finding humor in the hard, making connections for healing through healthy relationships gives you opportunities to move past trauma and feelings of overwhelm, anxiety or sadness. There is so much hope for you.
I offer individual, couples and family therapy aimed at developing stress management, emotional regulation and conflict resolution skills using trauma informed, evidence based interventions. There are many factors involved in our mental health and wellness and my goal is to assist you in discovering your own strengths and how to build upon them.
Life is about relationships, with self, family, friends, co-workers and God. When we experience difficulties in one or more of these relationships it is helpful to seek counsel. I enjoy counseling with individuals or families to facilitate healthy relationships. I use Solution Focused/Strength Based and Cognitive Behavioral and draw from other theories to create the best course of counseling for each client.
