You give and give, yet it never feels like enough. You’re stuck in painful patterns—breakups that leave you broken, connections with others where you feel unseen, or the fear that you’re too much or not enough. You overthink, replay conversations, and wonder why love feels so hard. Maybe I’m the problem, you tell yourself. But the truth? You are worthy of love, respect, and peace. Together, we’ll heal the wounds that keep you stuck, rebuild your confidence, and help you create new connections—starting with the one you have with yourself—that feel safe, fulfilling, and true. You don’t have to navigate this on your own.

I utilize an insight and awareness oriented style of therapy that is committed to authenticity and humor when possible. More than half of my clients are involved in or exploring ethical non-monogamy or a queer sexual orientation but the most important thing I look for in clients is just a good therapy chemistry between us. I prioritize new clients with Kaiser health insurance due to a new and specific contract I have with them.

Sometimes life can feel overwhelming when we carry the weight of stress, sadness, or work and family obligations. At other times, our old life feels outdated and we are ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery and growth. In therapy, we will work to uncover your core values, clarify your priorities, and identify the barriers—whether internal or external—that may be preventing you from living life to the fullest. In our first few sessions, we establish a strong foundation of trust and collaboration and identify the issues you would like to work on in a safe, non judgmental space dedicated to exploration and growth.

Do you feel stuck, confused, and alone in your relationship? Maybe you keep having the same arguments with no real resolution. No matter how careful you are, things always seem to escalate. Avoiding conflict feels easier than speaking up. Before long, you don’t feel like lovers anymore, just roommates. You’ve tried hard to make things better. You’ve read the books. You’ve tried fewer words—and even more words. Yet nothing seems to help. It all feels frustrating and confusing. And yet, you still care. You love your person and miss the connection you once had. You miss feeling like a team and want your partner back by your side.

It may be the loss of a loved one, unwanted repetitive patterns in relationships, or that incessant feeling of being exhausted and overwhelmed by it all that brings someone into counseling. As uncomfortable as it may initially feel, it is so courageous to take the dive into the therapeutic process that allows for genuine insight and healing. My work with clients offers a few moments to pause, sort through the possibly outdated stories we tell ourselves, and give room to shift perspective.

I firmly believe that growth has two paths. To truly flourish, one must balance a desire for change with a true willingness to accept oneselve for who you are. A treatment that embraces this idea is Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and it's the core philosophy I use with my patients every day. In treatment, DBT concepts focus on changing things that are getting in the way of living the life you want, while accepting yourself unconditionally. The focus is to develop a life worth living. My program offers a full finality DBT which includes individual therapy, group skills training, and phone consultation.

Cancer Therapists
How does cancer affect mental health?
A cancer diagnosis is a major life event that can significantly influence the mental health of any individual. Being diagnosed with cancer often introduces a sense of uncertainty about the future, which can cause clients to experience symptoms of anxiety, depression, and significant distress. Many cancer patients may also worry about the toll that their diagnosis may have on their family, their physical health, their job, and their financial situation. The compounding of such stressors can also decrease mental health in clients and may lead to additional symptoms that can influence mental health, such as sleeping difficulties or social withdrawal.
What is the best psychological therapy for cancer patients?
The best type of psychological therapy for cancer patients is highly dependent on the needs of the individual. The therapy type that a client benefits from may also depend on what stage of the cancer journey they are in. Recently diagnosed cancer patients, for instance, may benefit from therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which can help clients develop skills to manage the emotional distress that comes with a cancer diagnosis. Alternatively, cancer patients further along in their journey may benefit from therapies like Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) or other forms of mindfulness therapy to help manage symptoms or physical pain associated with treatment. Clients may also consider group therapy, which offers cancer patients an opportunity to receive support from other individuals dealing with a cancer diagnosis.
Are there any risks or drawbacks in going to therapy while dealing with cancer?
Although attending therapy while dealing with a cancer diagnosis can be helpful, one major concern for cancer patients can be the financial cost of seeking therapy. Many therapists are out-of-network, meaning they do not accept insurance, and thus clients are expected to pay the entirety of the session fee. Since many cancer patients may be out of work as a result of their diagnosis or cancer treatment regimen, the costs of therapy sessions can be substantial. Luckily, many cancer centers and local clinics may offer free or substantially reduced-cost counseling services to cancer patients and their families. In addition, cancer patients may be eligible for grants or other forms of funding from local agencies and nonprofits to seek therapy for their cancer diagnosis. Such opportunities can be very helpful for cancer patients, as they allow clients to obtain the benefits of therapy without the financial strain.
How long does cancer therapy typically last?
The length of cancer therapy depends on the needs of each client. In some cases, cancer patients may only require therapeutic support during the period following their initial diagnosis—to help manage the uncertainty and shock of a cancer diagnosis. In other cases, clients may choose to receive therapy throughout their treatment, and even following, their cancer journey. Pursuing therapy for a longer period of time can help clients develop a deeper relationship with their therapist and provide opportunity to process the challenges presented by cancer treatment, such as physical pain, and challenges associated with cancer survivorship, such as ongoing identity concerns, physical limitations, or relationship challenges.
