I specialize in mindfulness and somatic approaches to trauma recovery and PTSD, anxiety and acute stress, long term recovery of eating disorders, and early development attachment and relationship issues.
The task of being fully human is not an easy one. Most of us need some support along the way. I work therapeutically with willing adolescents and adults experientially in the here-and-now to cultivate the presence and awareness necessary to heal relational wounds, address underlying issues which contribute to symptoms, and foster authentic acceptance of self and others.

I also treat anxiety, depression, life transitions and/ or adjustments, PTSD, marital difficulties, parenting issues, and chronic health problems.
I believe that the first step to healing and growth is in our admission that we need help. Asking for help is not always easy when trust may have been violated or when society tells us to be strong and hold it together when the storms of life occur. When this happens, we tend to feel alone in our emotional pain and suffering, thinking and believing that no one understands what we are going through. We all need a safe place to uncoil, work through our difficulties and feel good about ourselves and our relationships with others.

I practice from several approaches, but something that makes me different is my training and ability to practice Anti-Racist Trauma-Informed Care when appropriate and indicated for consenting clients.
Patients can expect an empathic approach to mental health that creates an opportunity for us to determine the most comfortable and effective approach for the therapeutic relationship. This includes communication style; how to collaboratively approach any topic and area of interest; and how to preserve agency, autonomy, and emotional safety throughout therapy

I am no stranger to the pain and suffering we hold in our bodies from experiencing trauma.
You care about your growth and healing journey; you’re invested in helping yourself uncover and sort through your "issues." You’ve tried to figure it out, tried to find the right path, yet you continue to feel stuck, frustrated and/or overwhelmed. Perhaps you've even resorted to blaming yourself. Nothing is wrong with you, you simply have not yet found your way through. I offer therapy for motivated individuals seeking to be free from unintegrated pain impacting daily life. I help individuals find their way. I believe the answers are within you, but we all need help to find them, along with effective guidance to support our process.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
