I specialize in trauma, PTSD, sexual abuse, anxiety, depression, CBT, MI, parenting, family issues, special needs families, mood disorders, eating disorders, recovery, chronic pain, Brainspotting (similar to EMDR), mindfulness, anger management, depth work, and art & music therapy.
Stress levels are rising, yet we have less time to focus on our needs. Most cannot take time off work for therapy. Mothers struggling with childcare need support. Mobility issues can be a barrier to counseling. I believe that the solution is Telehealth. I'm dedicated to providing compassionate and evidence-based therapy to navigate life's challenges. I create a safe and supportive environment to explore thoughts and emotions authentically without judgement. Therapy and trauma work do not have to be exhausting. Together we will do small steps: identify patterns, symptom management, discover healthy ways to cope, and problem-solve.

Accidents, assault, abuse, even bullying, all definitively alter your existence in the world.
Trauma and anxiety do not have to stay with you forever. You are off balance, and it is a struggle to get back into your life's routine. Daily affirmations are not enough. Give voice to your story in a safe and comfortable setting and take steps to eliminate your anxiety, rage and heartache. Utilizing a whole-body approach to treatment we will minimize disruptive blocks & triggers and develop internal and external strategies to help you find freedom from fear and regain your self trust. I don't accept insurance, but check with your insurance and see it they will reimburse you from a SuperBill that I can provide to you.

I have considerable experience working with adults and teens struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, sexual abuse, domestic violence, substance use problems, neurodivergence, and autism.
Let's be real; if you're here, something in your life is not the way you want it to be. Maybe you aren't happy with your relationships, you feel stuck in a situation that you don't want to be in, or you've lost someone important to you. Perhaps you find yourself without support, motivation, or happiness. There is no problem too small or too complicated. As humans, we face obstacles throughout our lives and it takes a lot of courage and bravery to face whatever is causing you to be here in order to make some changes and learn healthy coping skills. Wherever you are at in your journey, support is possible.

I help people with grief, depression, eating disorders, relationship issues, sexual abuse and PTSD.
Thinking about writing this profile, I wanted to make it simple........I'm an old-fashioned therapist with great boundaries and carefully-monitored ethics. Then I thought you might want to know more about me and my style of therapy! I bring warmth, sometimes humor, to our work together. I'm a good listener......I won't fall asleep or interrupt to discuss my own agenda. I won't tell you to divorce your spouse or to stop compulsively overeating. I will help you find your own solutions and offer support as you take, sometimes very challenging, steps towards healing.

Since becoming a therapist in 2009, I've found Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) is the most effective treatment I've found and my primary treatment modality. I also use my training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for depression (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma (CPT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to help you have a better 'relationship' with your uncomfortable/shameful/distressing memories. The idea is through EMDR you will be be able to recall memories of the car accident, sexual assault or general feelings of failure that have installed a negative sense of self.

I work with clients skillfully to safely facilitate access to their own natural wisdom. I work specifically to craft the interpersonal space that supports growth in my clients. You may feel somehow broken, incomplete, or even bewildered. I remember these feelings from my own experience of healing and I use these experiences and vulnerabilities to guide my work as a therapist. Though the relationship is based on unconditional acceptance, my clients undergo remarkable transformation. I provide the skills of expert listening, empathy, clear boundaries, and genuineness to my clients.

Sexual Abuse Therapists

How do therapists treat sexual abuse?

A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?

Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?

Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?

As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
