I am trained as Grief Recovery Specialist through the Grief Recovery Institute.
I believe that the first step to healing and growth is in our admission that we need help. Asking for help is not always easy when trust may have been violated or when society tells us to be strong and hold it together when the storms of life occur. When this happens, we tend to feel alone in our emotional pain and suffering, thinking and believing that no one understands what we are going through. We all need a safe place to uncoil, work through our difficulties and feel good about ourselves and our relationships with others.

Many sensitive individuals carry the weight of trauma, grief, or early abuse in ways that linger quietly, shaping how they experience relationships, navigate change, or respond to stress.
Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing, I tailor each session to your needs and goals. My work is informed by both professional training and personal healing, including my own experiences with childhood trauma.

I firmly believe that we all should have access to counseling from birth till death.
I didn't grow up with therapy in my life. My parents divorced and remarried other partners when I was quite young, and that led to a very large, very blended family full of financial disparity and cultural differences. I didn’t venture into therapy until experiencing depression after the birth of one of my children. I then learned about intergenerational trauma and what damage it can do. I have immediate family who identify as Neurodiverse, Queer and Trans, and have chronic illness and autoimmune disorders and am fully aware of the challenges they face.

I have seen and experienced the positive benefits of EMDR therapy in navigating trauma, grief and loss, anxiety and many other aspects of daily distress.
First and foremost, I want to acknowledge the courage it takes to start a journey towards greater wellness – I know that it’s not easy! We all have experiences in life that shape the way that we experience the world, our relationships and ourselves – and some of these experiences can have long-lasting impacts on our ability to experience true happiness. As your therapist, I will be a compassionate, supportive and affirming partner in helping you to relieve the anxiety and distress created by these experiences and showing you the strength and potential that exists inside of you.

My work with neurotypical adults often focuses on issues such as depression, grief, life transitions and aging.
Welcome! I specialize in adults who are on The Autism Spectrum or suspect they might be. I offer evaluations, diagnoses, counseling and advocacy. It is my belief that autism is "another order" rather than a "dis-order" and that people on The Spectrum bring a unique set of skills and a new perspective to the world.

Together, we'll address issues related to loss, major life changes, and childhood experiences.
As human beings, we rely on relationships; with coworkers, friends, partners, loved one, and with ourselves. When we experience changes or endings in these attachments, we often feel a deep and vulnerable need to seek new forms of connection. The way we fulfill this need often reflects our past experiences—both the wounds we've faced and how our needs have been met or unmet. In our work together, I aim to cultivate a therapeutic relationship where you can feel safe and free to explore new paths forward. Together, we will gain fresh perspectives and deepen your understanding of past wounds.

Much of my experience comes from working with grief, chronic illness, chronic pain, dementia, depression, anxiety and life transitions such as death, birth, and divorce.
I have experience in various traditional modalities (i.e. talk and narrative) as well as energetic modalities, such as Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT/tapping, self-administered). The latter are new to many and have a growing body of research demonstrating their efficacy and efficiency. The techniques used to address your goals are based on your preferences

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
