I also have extensive training on a wide variety of modalities besides EFT including EMDR , Internal Family Systems, CBT, Structural Family Therapy, General Systems theory, and Psychodynamic Theory.
My primary focus is couple therapy. I am a trained Certified EFT Therapist. EFT stands for Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples and is far and away the best treatment for couples. I have successfully treated couples who struggled with communication issues, infidelity, childhood trauma, attachment concerns, and emotional disconnect. As an EFT therapist I have worked with many couples in which one of the partners has ADHD. I also treat trauma using EMDR therapy with individuals and in the couple setting.

Sometimes we have a nagging thought that something isn't going right in our lives or we notice a pattern that keeps happening over and over, but we wait so long to call and get help. Making that call can be so hard, but it is so worth it. Whether you have trauma, anxiety, depression, or difficulty in relationships - whatever is bothering you, a collaborative therapeutic relationship can help you learn the skills to cope with what life brings you and get you feeling better about yourself and your path. We all want to feel connected, heard, and understood and deserve a safe space to figure things out with a therapist who listens.

I am currently in the process of restructuring my business and I am not taking new patients at this time. I try to make myself available to people with Dissociative Identity Disorder to do a brief phone/email consultation just to offer support to people with an often misunderstood diagnosis. If there are former patients who need to get in contact with me then feel free to contact me through the email and/or phone number on this site.

I want to unfold. I don't want to stay folded anywhere, because where I am folded, there I am a lie, and I want my grasp of things to be true. - Rainer Maria Rilke. I love working with clients with all sorts of issues (anxiety, depression, relationship concerns and trauma) but I am especially interested in older couples. I have experience in gerontology and have been a couples therapist since 2003. And this work brings me great joy. My approach is eclectic but includes the work of John Gottman, David Burns, Prepare/Enrich, DBT, and Inquiry-Based Stress Reduction. And with individuals I do EMDR and other modalities.

I teach clinicians to interweave drama therapy, EMDR , somatic work, trauma-focused psychotherapy, and more.
Rebecca herself is full, however we have a number of available therapists who train directly with Rebecca. Our work is focused on providing relief and healing for any individuals who have experienced abuse, neglect, or psychological trauma like trafficking, sexual assault, death of a loved one, accidents, disasters, or racial/systemic oppression. Treatment can be intensive, if that's helpful. We have lots of success with clients whose past treatment hasn't worked, or whose trauma/abuse is particularly intense. Our primary interest is in figuring out what you need, and walking with you until you reach it.

I have many tools to support you and our work together including techniques such as CBT, DBT, Family Systems Theory, and EMDR .
You seem fine on the surface and even you're closest friends and family may tell you that you are doing fine. But, you find yourself feeling anxious, depressed and unable to show up in life and relationships in a way that feels authentic. Or, you continue to struggle with familiar patterns that keep you stuck in unfulfilling relationships or jobs. You're not sure where life is leading you and you don't believe that you can accomplish your biggest dreams. You recognize that trauma is likely influencing your thoughts and behaviors but you're not sure how to change the cycle.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
