As a queer, female therapist I know that life can lend itself to a variety of twists and turns and it can take courage to seek out support.
I also deeply value working with individuals in recognizing the impact that oppressive systems have on us while providing skills and strategies to help folks cope with more ease. I bring humor, lead with curiosity, and show up as my authentic self so that you may feel comfortable and confident as we walk together through your growth.

I am a fat liberationist who is invested in uplifting marginalized individuals, specifically fat, queer, BBIPOC, neurodiverse and disabled folks.
Currently Offering Telehealth Only in Oregon and Missouri. Finding an opportunity to heal takes courage and is often a decision made in isolation. I believe everyone deserves access to healing spaces so that we can live a more connected, authentic and resilient life. The wounds we carry often keep us from feeling a sense of meaning, purpose and community. Finding a safe space to heal in the world we live in can feel impossible. My work focuses on creating this space together. It's my goal to help you better understand the systems that stand in the way of your healing and that prevent you from accessing the support you really need.

As an LGBTQIA-identified therapist, I see it as a privilege to support those in the queer community.
I know that seeking out and beginning one’s therapy journey requires a great deal of courage. The clients I work with generally arrive facing tremendously challenging life events that often leave them feeling overwhelmed, helpless, bereaved, and even broken. My main priority as a clinician is to provide a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental space where you feel supported and can imagine and realize new possibilities. Your stories, life experiences, strengths and weaknesses, spiritualities, and identities will be witnessed, honored, and respected.

I also honor and celebrate diversity and create a safe and affirming place for people who identify as LGBT, genderqueer or questioning and for people who are non-monogamous.
I provide a holistic, strengths based, and non-pathologizing approach to wellness. I am a compassionate listener and active participant in helping people realize self-compassion and acceptance so they can heal past wounds and make changes in their lives that allow them to fully realize who they are at their core. Through use of sensorimotor/somatic therapy, EMDR and IFS (you can read more about these on my website), I help people learn to listen to their bodies and their internal wisdom so they can make choices that are in line with their values and hold themselves with more confidence and ease.

Now accepting PacificSource (Oregon): You are super kind and nice, except inside, you want more. You anticipate everyone's needs and everyone around you feels taken care of by you. Yet, when no one is looking, you feel frazzled and a little resentful. Others are happy while you feel guilty for setting limits. So you don't. Expressing your needs and desires, creating space for yourself feels selfish. Planting flowers? No creative energy. You keep giving because it's just a little thing to do for them and won't take but a minute. Asking for help, or taking time for your desires, makes you feel guilty, or even embarrassed.

The people I work with have made attempts to improve their lives, but still feel stuck. They may be overwhelmed by anxiety, relationship challenges, past trauma/painful experiences, or life's ongoing stress. They want to feel connected to themselves and others, outside of the impacts of persistent challenges. I help clients understand the intention of their symptoms/concerns as attempts to solve present or past problems rather than personal deficits. I support clients' identification of new coping skills, mindsets, and frameworks that help them exist in the world in a more authentic and rewarding way.

I am passionate about human beings and an avid advocate for mental health.  I believe each person has a unique and important story that they bring to therapy and I strive to create space for each client to share, connect, and grow. There is great strength and vulnerability in seeking help and I consider it a privilege to assist others in their journey through therapy. When working with clients, I use an eclectic approach in practice in order to best fit the client's needs.  I view counseling as a collaborative effort in helping clients to recognize strengths, identify needs, understand conflicts and discover new options.

LGBTQ+ Therapists

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
