I have an eclectic approach, borrowing from Internal Family Systems, Somatic Based Therapy, and Existential/Humanistic modalities.
It's hard work to be a person! Each of us, no matter where we are in life, have our own personal struggles and successes to tell. We've all been through something. Be it the stress of our present moment, our anxieties about the future, or the pain of our past, I would be honored to support you. I strive to provide a safe, productive, and healing space to understand and accept our past, so that we can fully partake in the gifts of the present. All are celebrated here :)

I find it very rewarding to witness family relationship growth, such as when a parent and child connect.
I desire to create an environment where individuals and families feel comfortable communicating and receiving encouragement. I enjoy finding humor in life-situations, , include laughter in the therapy process, and I aim to provide a relaxing atmosphere during sessions.

My background has involved working with adolescents, adults, and family systems.
I believe goals are only valuable if you believe and are invested in them, and I will work with you to figure out what those are. While it may feel overwhelming or impossible, all I ask for is a willingness to be open to the possibility of change. If you are here, I believe you are. I am here to encourage, empower, and support you as we work together to identify your goals and take the next steps towards healing.

I have received training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Sensorimotor, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Based Family Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
I believe that choosing to engage in therapy is one of the bravest acts that one can do for themselves. It requires a person to acknowledge and confront potentially painful experiences and negative core beliefs that can have become foundational. Therapy can help to establish a healthier foundation. I strive to develop a therapeutic relationship by cultivating collaboration, encouraging vulnerability, challenging avoidance, and acknowledging how difficult all of this can be to navigate. I view myself, and the therapy space, as a container in which to foster change and I approach every client with empathy, curiosity and compassion.

As a therapist, I spend time understanding the client’s goals and intended outcomes in therapy. The foundations of therapy should replicate the foundation of any healthy relationship, built on transparency, openness, and direct feedback so that when success is found in therapy, it can be translated more easily to the real-life situations that the clients encounter. My clinical experiences has focused primarily on children and teens. I conducted trauma-informed therapy in a residential setting conducting individual, group, and family therapy for my clients. I was also an established individual therapist on a college baseball team.

My clinical approach incorporates Internal Family Systems, EMDR, and DBT techniques.
The people I work with have made attempts to improve their lives, but still feel stuck. They may be overwhelmed by anxiety, relationship challenges, past trauma/painful experiences, or life's ongoing stress. They want to feel connected to themselves and others, outside of the impacts of persistent challenges. I help clients understand the intention of their symptoms/concerns as attempts to solve present or past problems rather than personal deficits. I support clients' identification of new coping skills, mindsets, and frameworks that help them exist in the world in a more authentic and rewarding way.

Therapeutic approaches include narrative therapy, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, IFS, and family systems.
Sometimes our thoughts, our feelings, and our circumstance can be hard to put together. When we try to connect with others, or we have no one to connect with, we’re left feeling misunderstood and lost. A memory that we have a hard time letting go of, a loss of energy, seemingly with no explanation behind it. Trauma, grief, loss. These burdens can build up over time. Having a partner as we journey through and process these experiences can be invaluable in finding peace within ourselves and our story.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
