I have additional training in The Gottman Method, EFT, EMDR, and others.
I truly believe we do the best we can, in the moment we're in, with the skills we have. Sometimes, we just find ourselves in situations that overwhelm us, or outmatch our coping, communication, or problem solving skills. Therapy can offer new tools and insights so that we can get "unstuck" and move forward. I will help you explore and build upon your current strengths, supports, and skills as well as help you navigate the changes you'd like to make for yourself and for your relationships. I value listening, exploring strengths, and helping examine and shift old habits that no longer serve you.

I am trained in EMDR which is an evidenced based treatment for trauma and completed a specialty training in EMDR to work specifically with first responders.
Personal experience has led to the understanding that a first responder, their family, and their friends can be impacted by the stress, traumatic experiences, crisis, hypervigilance, shift work, overtime, sleep disruption, and other mental injuries have on a good life balance. My proficiency and focus is with first responders, their families, the systems in which they work, and the impact it all has on the individual, the family unit, and their overall lifestyle. Let me me of help to you and yours. My goal is to help those that help others.

I integrate evidence-based practices, including DBT, EMDR, and IFS with an understanding of neurobiology, highlighting the importance of connection between mind and body.
No Openings Available Currently. The perspective I bring to the therapeutic relationship includes a deep confidence in the capacity for people to heal, change and grow. Central to the therapy process is the creation of a safe, supportive relationship in which the therapist sees and respects who the client is. From this place of safety and connection it is possible to set aside the noise of the world and begin focusing on getting reacquainted with your core self; and on the needs, strengths and values which can often be neglected.

ART and EMDR are modalities I love to use in my practice.
7/26/24: Waitlist is currently closed. Ideal clients would be tweens, teens or young adults. I can work with individuals and families who are seeking counseling support during a major transition in their lives. This could be surrounding grief and loss, divorce, death, chronic illness, mental illness, or other major life challenges. I have worked with pre-teens, adolescents, families who are homeless, individuals with mental illness, individuals who work in the health care setting, as well as those in hospice. Using a holistic strength based approach, I aim to provide a healing therapeutic environment.

I have been trained and practicing EMDR therapy for several years.
Living in this moment in time can feel very stressful! Most clients I see are impacted by issues related to trauma, grief, relational distress, low self-worth, constant stress, anxiety, depression, chronic mental/physical illness, and experiencing oppression/marginalization for who they are, among other issues. They come seeking a deeper understanding of themselves, relief from emotional pain, guidance on navigating the complexities of relationships, and to learn how to manage life stressors, heal, live authentically, and ultimately, thrive.

I am also trained in EMDR, IFS, and Brainspotting.
I see each person as uniquely shaped by their biopsychosocial make-up. Perhaps the very strategies that allowed you to feel safe and embedded in your family or community, have left you feeling limited by who you now know yourself to be. You may be seeking alignment with your authentic self. You may be feeling anxious, insecure, depressed or lonely. These experiences are deeply significant, come from somewhere, and are worthy of being curious about. Together we can get familiar with the once-brilliant adaptations that may no longer serve you. From that fertile place of deep empathy and accompaniment, new growth can emerge.

I believe in human resilience, in the potential for growth and change. I believe that pain arises through the endurance of invalidation, violation, or incongruence of one’s self, and that these experiences are what bring us to therapy. Therapy is a powerful opportunity to explore and discover one’s resilience through a relationship that encourages growth in a nonjudgmental, supportive environment. As a therapist, I am committed to creating a space for healing in which we can explore your life stories of both pain and joy, where you feel heard and validated, and where you can make the changes you seek.

*NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS AT THIS - Check back July/ Aug 2022 - I do not keep a Wait List* Starting the therapy process is a sign of strength and vulnerability. I believe that we all have the power to create change in our lives by allowing ourselves to see ourselves and be seen by others in our lives. Together, we will explore the origins of your patterns of thinking/behaving/relating as well as the functions that these patterns serve, assess your barriers to change, identify your strengths and resources, and practice new ways of coping in order to help you live a more satisfying life.

Our environment influences how we see ourselves in the world; it shapes our internal narratives and our relationship with ourselves and others. As a BIPoC, immigrant therapist, it is my honor and duty to provide a safe space for BIPoC folx and immigrants and seek to help each person see their own power and heal their wounds. I seek to help individuals who may be working on healing from radicalized trauma and various forms internalized oppression in order to become the person they were meant to be. Understanding our own history and connection to our ancestors helps us to understand who we are today and helps us heal our Soul.
