I work with clients navigating life transitions, trauma, anxiety, depression, or challenges that make them feel stuck or disconnected from their identity. They seek a safe, supportive space to explore emotions, gain clarity, and reconnect with their strengths. Together, we turn trauma into a foundation for growth and resilience, guiding healing, confidence, and life-affirming change that restores hope, purpose, and meaning.

Do you feel like you're doing "everything right" yet you still feel like something is "off"? You are high functioning but feel anxious or on edge more than you'd like but don't know why. Are you hyperaware of how you navigate life and intellectualize your experiences yet you struggle to actually experience your feelings? Maybe you even scoff at the idea of attuning to your feelings and body. But maybe you're also exhausted from the endless internal strife and ready for change. Are you motivated and willing to look inward, dig deep, be curious, reflective, and open to learn?

I especially enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ individuals and couples, college students, and folks struggling with addiction.
I take a trauma-informed, affirming approach to therapy and prioritize your autonomy, tailoring therapy to your needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all model. My work around substance use is grounded in harm reduction, meaning we focus on what feels realistic and supportive for you, whether that includes abstinence or other goals.

I work with teens, adults, and couples from an engaged and person-centered approach, which means I view each person as the expert of their own life.
Grounded in attachment theory and emotionally focused techniques, I pay attention to how early relational patterns may influence your current struggles and how they show up in your relationships. Together, we’ll explore experiences that have shaped your emotional world, as we create new patterns that support deeper connection and emotional well-being.

I am a licensed couples therapist, in practice for over 15 years.
When does wanting something more become an issue? When our normal desire for change has no recognized solutions. When our wants lead to self-rejection or frustration that keep those we care about at arms-length. When we disengage to avoid expressing a need, but get accused of not caring.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
