Hello! In my years of experience, I have found that my primary method of working with others is to come from a person-centered point of view. We work together to better understand your point of view. I've worked with folks who struggle with anxiety and depression, life stressors, and those who may have a history of trauma. My goal is to come alongside you during your journey and help you discover ways to cope with what has been going on in your life, and to help you address any unhelpful patterns of thought or behavior that may, at times, get in the way of you achieving your personal goals.

When working with clients, I see people as unique individuals who are trying to find their own meaning for their lives and a purpose in life. Through therapy we can learn so much about ourselves and our goals which we might not even be aware of up to this point. Part of my belief in therapy is centered in the idea that each person is capable of reaching their desired self or achieving self actualization. I believe individuals and relationships are trying to find their best possible versions of self. In my practice I emphasize promoting communication and emotional awareness.

CONDUCTING SESSION THRU VIDEO/PHONE. I am a WPATH Member and offer Behavioral Health Assessments and letter writing for the purpose of Gender Affirming treatment and surgeries. I offer sessions on WEEKENDS at no extra charge. I also offer a group for NB/Transgender Adults and LGBTQ+ teens (12-17). I follow a holistic approach to therapy. In other words, exploring various aspects that may impact an individual’s emotional, mental, and physical well-being.

Joleena is Certified in the Treament of Sexual Addiction, is a Certified Betrayal Trauma Coach, a Certified Clinical Trauma and Addiction Specialist, with an Ethereal Masters in Grief Counseling, and a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. Joleena specializes in helping couples working through betrayal and addiction of all kinds. She also works with clients that are struggling with anxiety, addictive behaviors, depression, PTSD, emotional abuse, mental abuse and trauma of various kinds. Her passion is to provide a safe space for her clients and to walk hand-in-hand with them, guiding them through the healing process.

The only way we know what happens in the world is through our senses. It's how we make sense of the world; it's how we can interact with the world. I use hypnosis to adjust this perception, to fine tune my clients' reality user-interface to allow them to experience a sense of comfort, confidence and especially control in improving their lives and getting them the things they both want and need. I really enjoy working with anyone who is ready to go deep, learn and change. Ready does not necessarily imply able. I am patient and willing to help my clients use session time effectively. Divorce-recovery and single-parenting are near and dear as I have experienced both. For me, Eating Disorders (especially AN restricting type) and Depression are among the most difficult to help and yet highly-rewarding when the client genuinely wants change. I also have a heart for working with clients in crisis. Space is limited for all of these higher-risk populations.

It takes a lot of courage to open ourselves, reveal our past, explore life experiences and bring our insecurities, worries and hopes out into the open. During my career, I've been privileged to work with a diverse population of clients ages 18-95, with experiences spanning the spectrum of mental health and life challenges. My approach is person centered, honoring that we're all different, and as such, have different needs. I believe judgment and shame create barriers to progress, and that looking within can bring to light insights and tools for growth and healing.

I see my role in the therapeutic process as providing a non-judgmental space to help clients clarify what changes they want to pursue, and guide them as they find their own strength and self-determination to make those changes. I use a client-centered approach with some CBT techniques. I have a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and am a member of the ACA, following their Code of Ethics.
