Since I started my work as a therapist, I have been helping my clients heal from trauma , sexual addiction, and the life impacts of other problematic sexual behaviors and choices they have made that led them to feel shame, anxiety and depression. Through my training and experience working with clients I have become aware that the ways we as a society often respond to people who have suffered traumatic experiences are not always supportive to the recovery process.

I specialize in domestic abuse, sexual abuse, and trauma .
Abuse is something that affects a lot of people and in various different ways. It is something that can be hidden from the world and no one will know the pain the individual is going through. It is quiet and insidious, leaving lasting effects. It can creep up on you and make you feel alone in the world full of people. It can leave you feeling misunderstood, alone, and/or broken. There are ways to work through the trauma , safeguard yourself, and heal from parts of the abuse. You will rebuild yourself esteem, sense of self, and confidence in the process of healing. Everyone's journey is different.

Everyone deserves dignity and respect. My job as a counselor is to listen and provide non-judgmental support for whatever challenges you are facing. I work with teens and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, OCD, motivation, and trauma .
From personal experience, I know how hard navigating the ups and downs of modern life can be. Debilitating thoughts like, “I’m not enough,” become barriers to progression. This brand of negative self-talk often leaves one feeling stuck and using whatever means necessary to alleviate the pain. I work from a philosophy that all emotions are “good” emotions. Like positive emotions, hard emotions give you insight into who you are and what's important to you. I believe the answers to creating a life worth living reside inside each one of us. My job is to help you uncover your unique ability to manage the challenges life throws your way.

My areas of focus are trauma , anxiety, grief, depression, and folks who want to explore improving their quality of life.
You will receive the fastest response back by emailing me. Sometimes seeking support can often feel like an exposing and vulnerable process, yet it doesn't have to be. Unpacking deep-rooted patterns and beliefs takes time, and can happen when we feel safe enough to disclose to others. I value connection and relationship in my practice, and aim to create a space where that processing can truly happen. I assist clients in identifying their patterns and core beliefs, and skills to regulate their emotions while focusing on their goals.

I am specialty trained in three specific therapies - Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma Conversion Therapy and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP).
I utilize a mind-body-spirit, holistic approach to therapy. Whether this be your first time coming to therapy or you are coming back again, welcome. Therapy takes courage, strength and curiosity. My approach is strength-based and client focused. I believe therapy to be a two-way therapeutic relationship - collaborative and in time building trust together in which we both work towards your goals. I believe in order to achieve your goals, practice of coping skills is imperative. Light homework is assigned if you choose a trauma therapy or DBT.

Welcome, I'm glad you've stopped by. Please note I do not offer couples therapy, only individual therapy for adults. If you've been struggling lately to feel good about yourself, your relationships, manage your mood, or you've noticed past trauma is sneaking its way into your current life, things can quickly become overwhelming. It can make it hard to get through the day-to-day grind, and that can leave anyone feeling unfulfilled and even hopeless.

It can be difficult at times to ask for help. I'm glad you have taken the first step. I am a therapist with many years experience supporting a diverse population of clients. Most recently I have been working with midlife and seniors experiencing declines in health. Before this I was a children's therapist focusing on children with disabilities, and those who have experienced trauma . I also enjoy working with individuals who have struggled with addiction as their strength is inspiring. I am a former foster/adoptive parent and enjoy supporting all members of the adoption triad. Teens and young adults are also a focus.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
