I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence based treatment designed to work with individuals and families affected by all specialties and issues listed on my page. Treating challenges like anxiety, depression and OCD , requires a collaborative and supportive process tailored to each individual. I am offering primarily telehealth based appointments within Oregon and in-person appointments within the Portland area as needed.

I work with teens and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, OCD , motivation, and trauma.
From personal experience, I know how hard navigating the ups and downs of modern life can be. Debilitating thoughts like, “I’m not enough,” become barriers to progression. This brand of negative self-talk often leaves one feeling stuck and using whatever means necessary to alleviate the pain. I work from a philosophy that all emotions are “good” emotions. Like positive emotions, hard emotions give you insight into who you are and what's important to you. I believe the answers to creating a life worth living reside inside each one of us. My job is to help you uncover your unique ability to manage the challenges life throws your way.

I specialize in work with individuals who experience Anxiety Disorders ( OCD , General Anxiety, Phobias), Depression, Insomnia, Autism Spectrum Disorders as well as those with medical or complex presentations (e.g. depression and diabetes). I believe therapy must involve a human connection and have come to find a good sense of humor is critical to the work done in therapy. Without a strong therapeutic relationship, it is nearly impossible to make progress. However, within the context of a collaborative, supportive environment, CBT tools can be very useful. When CBT tools are not helpful, eccentric evidence-based practices may be.

Soren Kierkegaard makes the apt observation: "Life can only be fully understood backwards, but you have to live it forwards." The journey of life consists of many things: joys and sorrows, heartache and love, loss and achievement. In the difficult moments of life, it can sometimes prove difficult to understand, cope, and keep clear goals. In Friedrich Nietzsche's words, "He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how." Claiming your individuality, your self-love, your clear goals, and your Why are some of the most empowering choices you can make in your life. I am here to help you on that journey.

I believe that therapy is meant to empower clients to feel that they are capable of change and living a fuller, more integrated life. I work with individuals, adolescents, couples, and families utilizing a bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach in therapy with the goal of creating a safe haven for clients. This simply means integrating the many parts of a person into therapy in the hope of improving one's emotional, spiritual and physical well-being.

Looking for someone to help you through a situation that feels too big or too hard to tackle on your own? Well, you do not have to do it alone. We all have times in our life when we feel overwhelmed and need help finding our way. The first step in your healing journey is to reach out and ask for help. This can feel scary sharing your challenges with someone else and yet it can be just the thing you need, to know you are not alone. We are wired for connection and healthy connection is tremendously important to our health and happiness. So remember it is healthy to ask for help because we're not meant to do it alone.

Working in education for over 12 years has given me a great gift. I have been able to access diverse populations, ages and needs. Working with children and adolescence is absolutely life-giving. I believe behavior is a form of communication, that ultimately children want to do well, but sometimes they lack the self-awareness and skill necessary to thrive. I am honored to get to be the one to support them in their journey and equip them with the tools needed for growth and success socially, emotionally, spiritually and educationally. I am also working with men, women and families. Everyone deserves to feel seen, valued and heard.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder in which people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensations (obsessions), or behaviors that make them feel driven to do something (compulsions). It affects children, kids, teens and adults. Often the person carries out the behaviors to get rid of the obsessive thoughts, but this only provides temporary relief. Not performing the obsessive rituals can cause great anxiety. A person's level of OCD can be anywhere from mild to severe, but if severe and left untreated, it can destroy a person's capacity to function at work, at school or even to lead a comfortable existence in the home.
