Living in a society that is both sexually repressed and obsessed with sex is confusing at the best of times. Overwhelmingly we weren’t offered the correct information about our natural urges or bodies, and we are sometimes even shamed for asking. This can often result in low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, guilt, shame, and isolation. I can help you navigate in improving your courage, mastery, and gaining healthier boundaries (that you are worthy of!) in order to be your most genuine self. We will work together at your pace in order to identify strengths and barriers and to gain confidence in making life choices and transitions.

I have expertise in helping adults address trauma, relationship difficulties, neurodiversity, problematic sexual interests, and spiritual exploration. I am a therapist who focuses on doing deep work with clients. I am interested in helping people make lasting changes that bring true empowerment and life transformation. Whether you are ready to hit the ground running in your own change process, or are not yet convinced therapy can actually help you, I am ready to meet you where you are at and explore what might be possible.

I am accepting NEW clients. I am seeking clients who are ready to work on their personal struggles and gain insight into what is triggering symptoms. I am interested in individuals who are on the spectrum, the LGBTQIA community, Self-esteems and self love concerns, generational trauma, post-traumatic stress disorders, anxiety, and depression. There is hope! Starting therapy takes a lot of courage and bravery, especially if you are wanting to heal from trauma(s). I utilize a mind-body-spirit, holistic approach to therapy. Whether this be your first time coming to therapy or you are coming back again, welcome. My approach is strength-based and client focused. I believe in order to achieve your goals, practice of coping skills is imperative. Light homework is assigned if you choose a trauma therapy or specialized treatment.

My clinical framework is rooted in attachment theory, which reiterates the delicate nature of the relationship between mother and baby. This relationship is integral to everything in our world and yet we often trivialize this relationship and assume that if there is a happy, healthy baby, then our mothers should remain perfectly aligned. The truth is, we know that the journey of motherhood is far more complex and intertwined, than how society portrays it.

My approach to counseling invites individuals into a warm, nonjudgmental space where they can explore challenges in their lives. I aspire to offer a safe space for individuals to be vulnerable and their authentic selves by practicing empathy, compassion, and support. I believe that individuals are able to make transformative steps in their life when they are motivated to change and offered a healthy and supportive environment to open up in. My client focus is on women with sexual trauma, relationship issues, and intimacy and sexual struggles. I work with adolescents 13-17 years old, adults, and couples.

Hello and Welcome! I am Lorinda Sanders and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in Idaho and Oregon. I've been in practice 25 years. I graduated from Walla Walla University with a Master in Social Work in 2000. My experience includes working with individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, career challenges, LGBTQ, relational conflict, grief and loss, and adjustment/transitional challenges. I use a number of therapeutic techniques including Motivational Interviewing, CBT, ACT, Trauma Informed Care, Mindfulness and strengths based techniques. My goal is to help you become a better version of yourself.

I specialize in working with adults and children who experience trauma. Trauma can interrupt healthy development in the brain and body in profound ways, particularly during formative years. I can assess, diagnose, and intervene with mental health disorders, addictions, chronic stress, and crisis using treatment plans that target my client's unique goals. Risk assessment is an important aspect of trauma-informed care for clients with urges to harm themselves or others. I may involve my team of professional colleagues in treatment as needed, including LPCs, skills trainer, and yoga & movement instructor.

My vision is to empower every person who seeks help to achieve balance in their lives by offering the opportunity to access new tools and improve unwanted behaviors. I provide affordable therapeutic interventions to the adult population seeking help with depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, burnout (political, professional, social media, etc.) or other emotional disturbances. My experience enables me to offer effective outpatient, individualized, psychological care and provide a neutral ground for individuals and couples who are committed to working toward their goals and values.

Since I started my work as a therapist, I have been helping my clients heal from trauma, sexual addiction, and the life impacts of other problematic sexual behaviors and choices they have made that led them to feel shame, anxiety and depression. Through my training and experience working with clients I have become aware that the ways we as a society often respond to people who have suffered traumatic experiences are not always supportive to the recovery process.

I provide individual, couples, and family counseling. I believe in a collaborative relationship exploring issues and creating ways to improve personal growth. I have a Person Centered approach to reflect, validate, and support each client as they journey through their counseling experience. I enjoy working with Client to identify their goals and support them as they heal.

I primarily work with young adults on an individual basis and have experience with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, severe and persistent mental illness, self-esteem, interpersonal issues, trauma, identity issues, spiritual and existential concerns, life transition, and other emotional wellness concerns. I am currently only providing services via telehealth / secure online video chat. For Oregon clients, at this time I am only accepting Moda insurance or private pay.

Having a trusting relationship with your counselor is one of the most important aspects of counseling effectiveness and something you can count on when working with me! My practice is full at this time and not accepting new patients. Together we will create a warm, compassionate, and understanding environment. The goal is for our time together to be in the no judgment zone by gaining skills in radical acceptance. I have developed a unique approach through building the therapeutic relationship to work with individuals struggling with stress, relationships, depression, anxiety, trauma response, and self- harm. My clinical experience, calm demeanor, and aspiration for trust, help build meaningful relationships with clients through exploration of life choices.

After 25+ years of providing counseling I find my philosophy has grown simpler and more to the point. Successful counseling is built on a positive and trusting relationship, much as successful living is dependent on trusting, healthy relationships. I bring a broad array of treatment tools to my work including gestalt, object relations and psychodynamic theory. Most importantly I bring myself; my heart, my humor, my understanding, knowledge and years of experience. I work with adults and children, couples and groups(this includes families).
