Bereavement, suicide loss, loss of a pet, life transitions, difficulties in
relationship
to others and to self are some of the reasons people seek counseling. My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe place for clients to work through problems, discover their strengths, and find hope for healing and change. It takes courage to reach out and seek support when you recognize that what you are doing on your own doesn't seem to be working. My hope is that you will start your journey to healing.

Deep inside each of us is a reservoir of wisdom, of knowing what is true for us. Granted, that inner wisdom maybe be layered over with negative messages, unexamined beliefs acquired years ago, noise from the busy-ness of our lives and the chaos of the world, or personal doubt, lack of confidence, confusion. Being present in the body so that we can access that inner wisdom is a crucial aspect of counseling and doing so can help us find the way forward in life. Learning to be fully present in the moment is a gift we can give ourselves as we live our lives and move toward healing and well-being.

My approach is collaborative, ie, we figure out together what's going on and how best to work towards better outcomes. My patients are children, adolescents and their families,
couples
and adults - young and old. I have a good deal of experience with acting-out behaviors, parenting challenges, depression, anxiety, trauma-based behaviors. While some difficulties can be more skillfully dealt with, I am skeptical that life's problems can be 'resolved' forever and ever. Emotions and thoughts will forever arise, offering endless opportunities to learn different responses, ultimately transforming habitual reactions into conscious responses that work better for us.

As we discover reconnection with our true selves and being genuinely seen by another without shame, we have a greater capacity to know and live into our calling and engage in a life-giving
relationship
with God and others.
Are you reeling from the gut punch of pornography or an affair? Hope is here! Born from the trenches of personal struggle, my favorite work is with those who have been impacted by the trauma of sexual addiction, infidelity, and betrayal. Drawing strength and wisdom from my personal journey into sexual brokenness, together we will walk with truth and integrity into your story to a safe place where grief and kindness intersect. Tenderly and gradually sharing our story with honesty and being truly heard by another offers a way to see and understand that which keeps us from being able to give and receive love.

"Daring greatly means the courage to be vulnerable. It means to show up and be seen. To ask for what you need. To talk about how you’re feeling. To have the hard conversations."- Brené Brown. Counseling can feel intimidating, nerve-racking, and desperate; I get it. And the reality is we cannot live life alone and we cannot heal alone. We need each other for support, encouragement, empowerment and restoration. My role as a counselor is to

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
