I help queer and trans teens & Gen Zers feel more secure in their relationships & identities. Relationships are so important! But they can also be really hard, especially if you're bringing past trauma and hurt into them. I can help you gain understanding and compassion for what you bring into relationships, which can totally transform how you experience them.

I specialize in working people who move through the world differently, particularly trans and queer people who are ready to do some deeper therapy/trauma work and understand and change maybe feeling reactive, on high alert, frozen, or shut down. With empathy and an anti-oppression approach, I can help you examine what's keeping you stuck, overwhelmed, frozen, or confused. I also love working with other trans therapists especially in this time of collective collapse and traumatization as we try to support ourselves while supporting others.

Considered counseling but don't want to be confined to an office? Know you need help, but sitting down and talking about it sounds overwhelming? Tried to connect your teen with a therapist but it never works out? Then Connected Roots Counseling might be right for you. I approach therapy as a radical act of care, connection, and reclamation. I do not see any person as being broken or in need of fixing—but rather, being shaped by systems, histories, and daily conditions that often demand disconnection from self, body, land, and reality. I offer a unique ecotherapy practice to address these, and many more issues.

You want to appear like you’re happy, calm and confident, but deep down you feel like life is passing you by and you can’t keep u. You may be fed up with feeling disconnected from yourself, burned out, or like you can’t enjoy life. You might not even remember a time when things didn’t feel this way. One thing is for sure: you’re ready to feel relief. You’re ready to feel like yourself again. You’re ready to find fulfillment, understanding and safety in relationships. Most of all you’re ready to stop feeling detached and anxious and start feeling, calm, connected and engaged with life.

I believe that this world is hard, we get through it together, and therapy can help, even in these times. The heart of my work is providing politically informed relational talk therapy from a queer and trans perspective. I believe some of the most impactful therapy comes from talking about the things that are hardest to say. I'm here to talk about things like trauma, regrets, shame, fears, and that thing that may feel like it's not worth the time because you just can't figure out why it bothers you so much. What we uncover there could be a doorway to seeing and experiencing yourself, your relationships, and the world differently.

I'm great with teens (14 and over) and adults (18-45) navigating life's transitions with queer, transgender, trauma, and/or neurodivergent intersections.
Hello! I am a queer, psychodynamic therapist originally from Texas, now enjoying the Pacific Northwest. Clients know me as collaborative, approachable, and a fierce advocate. I believe in building trust, authenticity, and genuine care with my clients. I center my client’s values, personal goals, and story to direct our focus, and work to adjust my approach to meet my clients however they show up. I am passionate about working with clients who feel burnout from systematic oppression, capitalism, and traditional expectations of what success and fulfillment means.

Accepting clients in-person and via video - as of 1/13/26 . The world can feel like a scary, uncertain place right now, for good reason. I am here to help folks navigate it all. Over 20 years experience working with individuals and couples from marginalized groups, especially neurodivergence in the form of bipolar disorder, autism, and/or ADHD. I enjoy in helping clients experiencing identity exploration around gender and/or sexual orientation. I focus on attachment, and how your family of origin showed up for you (or didn't) impacts what you expect out of relationships, and the comfort (or discomfort) you feel in getting close.

The people I tend to connect with the best identify as members of the LGBTQ+ population, are curious about themselves, and who co-create a space with me for them to feel witnessed in. This looks different for everybody, and is informed by how we both show up in the room. I work well with helping people identify patterns of being, and to engage in their emotions in ways they haven't been familiar with in the past.

Many of us didn't get the love, support, or connection that we deserved from our families or communities growing up. Because we're resilient, we developed creative strategies for getting our needs met (ex. people-pleasing, perfectionism, numbing-out, overanalyzing, rebelling, etc.). And these strategies worked for a while! They helped us get through complicated childhoods. But as we get older, many of us begin to notice a toll on our minds, our bodies, and our relationships.

Feeling stuck? On the surface, it might look like you’ve got everything under control—but inside, you may be juggling anxiety, self-doubt, or fatigue. Work, relationships, and daily pressures can leave you drained, caught in loops of overthinking, burnout, or people-pleasing. And beneath all of that, there may be a quiet longing to feel more grounded, more authentic, and more connected to yourself. In our work together, we’ll slow things down and make space for what’s really going on. We’ll gently uncover the patterns that keep you feeling weighed down, and begin building new pathways toward clarity.

Transgender Therapists
As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?
A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.

What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?
Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.

How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?
An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?
Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
