Self Esteem Therapists in Portland, OR
I work with clients who are done with conveyor-belt therapy and surface-level talk. As a somatic, relational therapist, I offer more than insight, I provide a deeply attuned presence where your inner voice is honored and you are seen and heard. In that space, healing begins and transformation unfolds. I help individuals and couples untangle the emotional knots that keep them stuck, from their trauma, anxiety, and grief, to the wide array of challenges human emotion has given us. The journey inward is the first and most sacred step to cultivating an honest, compassionate relationship with yourself. The most important relationship.

Working with clients to find grounding and direction as they adjust to transitions, heal trauma, form a healthy personal identity, and overcome shame so that they can step into life with genuine presence is one of my greatest joys.

Healing is not a path we’re meant to walk alone. Seeking support is an act of courage—a recognition that there is strength in vulnerability. We are wired for connection, and through relationships, we begin to heal, find meaning, and transform pain. Many of us have also experienced hurt in relationships and may struggle to recognize what true safety and support feel like. In our work together, we’ll create a space where you can feel seen, heard, and held. Healing begins when we feel safe enough to be ourselves, and I’m here to support you through that process.

This approach has been the core focus of my work with persons experiencing substance use disorders, PTSD, ADHD, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and concerns with body image.
Welcome. I'm glad you're here. Many individuals I have worked with begin therapy because they are facing significant challenges in their current lives, grappling with issues from their past, or encountering difficulties in envisioning a positive future. Sometimes individuals need assistance with a particular problem they are facing, and sometimes they find it challenging to get through the day despite their efforts.

Therapy should be hopeful and positive. It should help you move forward from feeling "stuck" in life and help you create meaning from challenge. Everyone deserves the opportunity to express themselves more genuinely and learn from the past in order to develop healthy and productive lives. You already come the therapy with great strength and skill; my work is to be both a supportive listener and guide, as well as offer ideas and tools you can use to feel healthy and meet your goal. My goal is to make you feel seen and heard, and truly cared for. From that, you will find your path towards healing.

Together, we work on uncovering core beliefs & perceptions that lead to low self-esteem and painful emotions, and then offering the mind the support it needs to grow beyond these constricted states.
Clients that have been drawn to work with me include: those in the LGBTQIA+ community, neurodivergent clients (autism spectrum, ADD/ADHD, and highly sensitive people), those in the healthcare system, and older adults. I tend to work best with those who value a relational approach to therapy as my approach tends to be sensitive, perceptive, intimate, co-regulating, and attachment-informed. Overall, my ideal client is anyone who is dedicated to self-work and interested in the types of experiential therapy that I offer.

You’re smart. You’ve tried podcasts, journaling, morning routines, yoga, maybe even talking to your houseplants — and still, something isn’t shifting. Anxiety keeps hijacking your plans, motivation has escaped you, old trauma shows up at the worst times or your brain has a knack for repeating the same unhelpful patterns like it’s stuck on a loop. You’re not alone, and you don’t have to keep doing this by yourself. This is your invitation to stop “just getting by” and start living with more intention, ease, and self-trust. Therapy with me is a place to explore what’s actually going on beneath the surface -not just cope, but transform

Hello! I am a licensed therapist and I'm skilled at helping others to navigate an array of challenges by cultivating growth, building skills, deepening insight and awareness, and fostering meaningful relationships. My approach is rooted in mindfulness to build awareness and insight into one's thoughts, feelings, actions, and personal experience. With increased awareness you will be able to "slow down" and better understand what is happening so you can respond effectively to challenges rather than react in old, unhelpful ways. I will also teach you skills to help you relate to yourself and others with kindness.

Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
