I also include in my grasp of any client appreciation for their family, social-cultural, and socioeconomic context.
A person considering counseling is already making the first step of trying to achieve, or return to, a healthier and happier equilibrium. I believe that “loosening up” and releasing the many things we hold, particularly unconsciously, allow us to activate that capacity and return to, or discover, a healthier state of being. Top-down, this would involve uncovering our various thought patterns, reactions, and story that we have about ourselves. Bottom-up, it involves noticing and feeling - the various ways our body is in relation to how we are mentally.

I have worked with youth, couples and poly folx, and families for over 15 years and the most profound work has been done because we felt connected and safe.
I believe the most important parts of therapy are trust and collaboration. You'll know immediately if the therapist is right for you. If you don't feel it, keep looking. There's a lot of us therapists out here and your time and self-work are important! Additionally, at our most vulnerable times in life, we need someone who will hold a safe space for us to approach our edges - the parts of us we tend to avoid or neglect. Addressing our 'issues' is intensely brave and can also be terrifying! I commend you for embarking on this journey and invite you to call me if my words resonate with your needs.

I use a combination of person-centered and relational lenses as we have to understand how other things, people, or society can impact us.
I believe that each person can grow and heal given the right space. Sometimes, we can feel stuck, lose confidence in ourselves, or find ourselves looking outward and comparing our experiences to those of others. In these moments, I provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space to support clients in understanding their experiences and their impact on their lives. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to help clarify, so we can together understand the impact. I believe that together we can help you see your strength and confidence.

I work with High functioning adults, young adults and couples.
I listen to where you need to go instead of where I think you should be. I look for how we are together as a way of understanding how you are in the rest of your life. I assume there's a deeper intelligence at work; I'm old enough by now to know that any problem is at its root the question of whether or not you are connected to something beyond the self.

As someone who was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, I know what it’s like to go through life feeling I'm not quite good enough. I've struggled with things that seemed so easy for others – staying focused, not procrastinating, being organized, etc. Throughout my life I internalized these struggles as personal failings. I thought I just needed to try harder or be more disciplined. It wasn’t until my diagnosis that I began to understand how ADHD actually works—and how much compassion I truly needed, not criticism. Things started to change once I faced myself with kindness.

I love supporting those who are stuck in perfectionism, anxiety, trauma or relational issues discover their authentic self and live from a place of empowerment.
You deserve to live fully and freely, to express yourself, and to be heard with curiosity and intent to understand. This often means unlearning behaviors or ideas that may have served us in the past and are now holding us back, releasing societal expectations that feel out of alignment with us, and learning what works for us now. We’ll work together to understand how your past shaped who you are, and to discover how you want to show up today.

Relationship Issues Therapists
What types of relationship issues can therapists help with?
Therapists who specialize in relationships work with individuals, couples, and families on a wide range of issues. Common concerns include communication problems, infidelity, intimacy difficulties, and navigating major life transitions such as marriage, parenthood, or caregiving. Family therapists may also address parent–child conflict, sibling rivalry, or other complex family dynamics.

What are the different types of therapy for relationship issues?
Relationship issues can be addressed through different types of therapy depending on whether you’re seeking help as an individual, couple, or family. In individual therapy, the focus is often on helping an individual understand how their own patterns, attachment style, and past experiences may be shaping their current relationships. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), attachment therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) are three common forms of individual treatment that can help individuals understand their current relationship dynamics and improve their relationship quality. Couples therapy often uses other forms of evidence-based treatment, such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) or the Gottman Method. Rather than focusing on the individual, these approaches focus on improving communication, rebuilding trust, and strengthening emotional bonds between individuals in a relationship. Similarly, family therapy often focuses on communication but also examines how larger-scale dynamics—such as how parenting styles, generational differences, or sibling roles—may shape family relationships.

What actually happens in a therapy session for relationship issues?
The structure of a session depends on whether therapy involves one person or multiple people. In individual sessions, the focus may be on exploring personal patterns, role-playing difficult conversations, practicing listening skills, or setting goals for handling conflict. In couples or family sessions, each person is encouraged to share their perspective while the therapist helps uncover underlying emotions, highlight unhelpful interaction patterns, and guide more constructive communication.

How can I find an effective relationship therapist?
Finding a therapist who is a good fit for your needs, either for individual, couples, or family therapy, is critical to ensure effective therapy. Psychology Today’s online directory makes it easy to search for therapists who specialize in relationship issues, as well as related topics like marriage counseling. The platform offers filters to help you find a provider who fits your needs, such as gender, location, and fees. While the Psychology Today directory also offers the ability to filter by insurance type, it’s important to note that insurance may not cover many types of relationship therapy, such as couples counseling, so it’s important to inquire with your insurance plan about specific coverage details if intending to use insurance for therapy.
