Psychosis Therapists in Portland, OR

One of my favorite parts about therapy is the openness to explore what you've been through, where you are, and where you'd like to go. It’s important that my clients feel safe and understood as we collaborate to find what is needed whether that be peace, healing, joy, energy, or whatever else you are seeking. I am experienced in helping folks with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and life transitions.

At age 30 I started at the University of Oregon, earning a Bachelor’s degree in General Social Science and then earned a Master of Arts Degree at Bushnell University in Professional Counseling. Coursework began with human development and theory of treatment for mental illness. We also learned about testing and assessment, developing diagnosis and overview of treatment options to help individuals to reach and maintain and optimal mental state. I believe that each person can reach an optimum state of health, mental and physical and that the individual holds the key to that state.

We are born with boundless curiosity, exploring the world with open hearts, but trauma can narrow our perspectives, leading us to seek safety in the familiar, bringing both comfort and restriction. Therapy invites us to gently feel our way forward, offering tools to promote embodiment, connection, and growth. I work with helpers, caregivers, and those navigating the unique pressures of marginalized identities—first-gen folks, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and individuals performing emotional or undervalued labor. Together, we’ll explore challenges, reconnect with what sustains you, and reclaim your sense of agency, peace, and purpose.

I offer you my kindness, respect and 30 years as a therapist. Listening, presence and experience are a large part of what I bring to our sessions. A lot of pain and trauma has unconscious effects. I work with you to understand the sources of the problem and to build awareness around how it is showing up. Also skill building in relationships. We also aim to understand the different parts of your self. We work to bring forth your highest or the authentic self. I also aim to heal the trauma in the body. I am Jungian based, using EMDR, mindfulness psychology, and somatic approaches, all to deepen your relationship to yourself.

Counseling is a challenging avenue to pursue. Usually at moments of confusion, loss, even desperation. Having been in the field for over 20 years, I can admit I don't have 1 answer. However, having that amount of professional (and considerable personal) experience, I've accumulated quite a tool box. It may not guide you to immediate enlightenment, but it will help with the journey. I hope to hear from you.
