As a seasoned psychoanalyst, my job is make therapy comfortable for you to discuss your concerns. I work with you to find out what you desire from life and to help you to achieve that. Issues may be specific or there may be a general sense of un-ease. Together, we explore and understand the obstacles that inhibit knowing and attaining what is desired, or obstacles that get in the way of connection with others. PRESENTLY, I am interested in talking with those who are interested in GROUP therapy; preferably those who have had some therapy experience, and/or are presently in therapy. I'm not accepting new individual referrals.

We all deserve to feel aligned, safe and nurtured. Cultivating compassionate self-awareness and acceptance, are at the core of healing, change and growth. When we feel healthy and fulfilled we are more likely to live with meaning. I utilize an integrative lens, centered in mindfulness, and somatic orientations to promote increased consciousness of thoughts, values, feelings, and behavior patterns. My approach is intuitive, and warm. I address problems from a compassionate lens meeting clients where they are. Our work together involves expanding awareness of our inner minds, and our felt sense to move towards a more integrated self.

I provide useful and in depth psychotherapy for Oregon, California, and NY residents. People are in a constant developmental process, whereby symptoms are signs of ongoing struggles to sort through past experiences while organizing oneself in present living. Depression, anxiety, & personality traits are markers of this process. Therapy with me would seek to aid in your understanding of how & why you live the way you do, and hopefully lead to change. My hope is that we can find a way for you to live more fully and for problems to be comprehensively understood, formulated and articulated, and resolved in a sustained way.

Talking to a new person about the hards parts of your life can feel deeply vulnerable! Whether it’s coming to therapy for the first time, returning after a break, or transitioning therapists, I understand the bravery and inner strength that reaching out for help requires. I aim to make the process of coming to therapy easy by making folks feel respected, safe, and understood. I provide space where people can be human, share truths, and practice new skills. I’m accepting telehealth clients ages 13+ and am an out-of-network provider. Clients under 13 in need of support are recommended to do parent sessions with me.

I have been counseling for over ten years, and working with people is truly my passion. I work primarily with teens, adults, and couples. I specialize in self-harm behaviors, eating disorders, relationship conflict, depression, anxiety, PTSD, self-esteem, and abuse issues. I also work with couples doing pre-marital counseling. As a Christian counselor I integrate Biblical truths with psychological principles. My therapeutic work focuses on helping individuals understand and work through life patterns that have, or continue to have, frustrating or disappointing outcomes. I provide help for a range of challenges to include anxiety, depression, abuse and other trauma, shame and self-esteem, stage of life transitions, and relationship difficulties. The invaluable work of moving through these difficulties in the safety of a therapeutic relationship can result in a stronger sense of self esteem, improved relationships, and a revitalized capacity to work and love. In addition to working with adults, I also specialize in the treatment of children and adolescents.

“What in the hell is happening?" Educated, and successful, everything look great, but on the inside, you're quietly unraveling. Covid, anger, blame, and uncertainty are taking a toll, bringing up stuff you thought you'd already dealt with. Anxiety and negative thoughts are taking over again: "Too much." "Not enough." "Why did I..." It's time to slow down. Get back into therapy and do the deep dive. Family. Childhood. Divorce. Religion. Therapy isn’t sitting around gazing at your navel, blaming the past. It's hard work, that takes time and commitment. And it can be absolutely life changing. Let's find YOUR voice.

How can I find a therapist in Portland?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
