If you are suffering from unresolved trauma, anxiety, panic disorder, depression and/or addiction issues, I can help! These are very uncomfortable and debilitating problems. I will develop a treatment plan with you that is effective, often brief and will change and improve the quality of your life and relationships. I am trained in EMDR, which is a specialized treatment for trauma, PTSD, phobias and anxiety. This therapy is very rewarding and brings hope to situations that may seem hopeless. The ultimate goal for therapy is to resolve issues from your past and develop a life that is filled with congruence and happiness.

Life can be hard, can cause twists, turns, and sometimes unexpected trauma happens to us or those we love. Traumatic experiences can cause unwanted symptoms, including depression, loss of sleep, isolation and avoidance. That is where good therapy is key to relieving the pain. I specialize in helping adults navigate such hurtles, particularly those attached to new parenting, postpartum/perinatal needs, fertility concerns and generalized anxiety. I welcome all those who seek support; therapy is hard, but you are here. Let's begin. I also do clinical supervision for LCSW licensure both individually and in a group setting.

Therapy is writing your own story as we embrace the ‘self as inherently fluid’ and that all individuals are capable of crafting new and empowering stories that include a new sense of self. This is a healing journey, and I'm here to connect with you to explore together the trauma, grief, and other challenging life experiences that prevent you from healing, growing and living the fulfilling life you are seeking.

Have you ever felt like you're either "too much" or "not enough"? This could be a general struggle, or it could be related to a specific trait (i.e. too Asian/not Asian enough or too Queer/not Queer enough). Perhaps you struggle to belong and don't feel like you quite fit anywhere. Or maybe factors such as perfectionism, self-doubt, overthinking, or comparison to others are creating problems in your life. All of these issues are quite common, but can also be extremely nuanced. I understand and I can help.

I work with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, difficult life transitions, parenting issues, divorce, and feelings of low self-worth, as well as with those who are sober curious, in recovery, or who want to explore behavioral addictions.

Currently accepting new clients <> I believe psychotherapy is a project between two people where the goal is to make contact with conscious and unconscious sources of emotional pain. Psychotherapy circumscribes a space where what has been denied, unimagined, forgotten, or unspeakable can become imagined, spoken and felt. The process generates a reading of the self that is vastly more dynamic than what our lives often permit, leading to the easing of suffering and the creation of new possibilities.

“The wound is the place where the light enters you” – Rumi. Life stressors can contribute to feelings of anxiety, depression, loneliness, and even hopelessness. If you are feeling any of these, know that you are not alone. I trust in the power of therapy to re-examine stressful situations in a therapeutic environment. I am passionate about working with children, families, individuals, and couples to help identify barriers and dysfunctions; and to help facilitate positive changes to reinstate normal functions.

Thank you for exploring your options for support. People who seek out therapy want something in their lives to change or are adjusting to a change that they never wanted. Therapy can be incredibly helpful and healing. Therapy can also be about getting to know yourself and supporting your growth. Your goals are valid and I look forward to supporting you.

It goes without saying these past few years have been an uphill battle. With the stress of a pandemic, the economic hardships facing many, and political divides deepening: it's no wonder anxiety is high. Or depression feels magnified. Or you find yourself falling back into bad habits. But you don't have to struggle through this time alone. Empathic Counseling can help you cope during this difficult time and empower you to thrive. I work closely with clients across Oregon to help them find freedom from Anxiety, Depression, Addiction, Trauma, or that harsh voice inside you that tells you you're not enough.

Tired of looping through "coping skills," and ready to heal? If you (or a loved one) continues to struggle with anxiety, depression, dissociation, grief, parenting, relationships, trauma, or other stressful life transitions, it may be time to talk. Clients who often do well in this type of work have already worked on stability (ie safe housing, distress tolerance, "coping skills"), so a consistent focus on mental health can be a priority for the next step. Everyone is unique, but with right brained protocols and EMDR, we often see significant results in a shorter time period than talk therapy alone. Consistency is key.

Are you a woman or teen girl experiencing depression, anxiety, loss of purpose and meaning, or who has experienced trauma? Does shame haunt you? Do you need to heal past wounds? Would you love to gain self-compassion and experience hope again? If you feel like something is keeping you from moving forward, I’m the kind of therapist who can help you break free from those chains and build a life you love. I provide telehealth (online) therapy for female-identifying and nonbinary adults and teens living in Oregon and Washington state and am trained in EMDR.

Through a social justice lens, I accompany people on their journey to a more grounded and liberated life by exploring how our intersecting identities and cultural experiences have led to the ways we are hurt, but also hold the keys to how we heal. For my clients, these layers of oppression may result in anxiety, depression, and racial identity concerns. We'll work together to process your experience, draw out your strengths, and support your goals. I love working with Asian American adults, and other POC, to connect the impacts of history, oppression, and culture on mental health and wellbeing.

How can I find a therapist in Portland?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
